Hey Bob, Good luck on your project here, I hope you have alot of responses. I
will say that after several of the bones fests, Steve Wixon produced cd's
including performances from the fest. These include BF 6 and 7. There are
video's and dvd's of a number of bones fests, I think only 4, and 8 did not have
some kind of video or dvd recording. I have not seen one on BF X but that may be
in the works. It is a pleasure seeing the variety of styles. By the way you'll
have to let me know how you like that cd you mentioned of mine. Take Care, steve

Subject: [SPAM] [rhythm bones] Bones/CDR project idea
Hi all,
I'd like to make an offer to the group. I'd like to make an informal bones
compilation. Send me a recording of yourself playing the bones and I'll put
it together with other bones members recordings and send it to you for free.
The "why" of it is merely that I want to hear more of what you all sound
like. I play bones frequently, but not with other bones players. I suppose I
could make enough of a commitment to come to a bones fest, but I haven't :(
or I could buy some CD's of Steve Brown's on his excellent site, but then
I'd get 20 tracks of just him. (no offense, Steve) or I could watch Jeff
Lefferts again playing that amazing sextuple on his mp4. But what about
Jonathan's playing? or Adam Klein's. What I want is a CD of 20 different
players I can listen to. I want a wide variety of techniques, and skill
levels. I'm sure there is a better long term solution using mp3 downloads,
but this is today's offer.
So, send me a bones cut of your playing. Other instruments can be
accompanying, but the bones must be in the front of the mix. Tell me your
name, address and who is playing on your cut (and a dollar for postage if
you're feeling flush- not necessary though). You can send me 2 or 3 cuts,
but I'll choose only one to put on the CD. I will take the first 20 I get
and put them on the CD and send them out to those 20 who sent them. I would
like cuts that are short and "to the point". i.e.. rather than playing a
whole range of techniques, just try to give me one distinct approach. Please
keep it short 2-4mins. (I reserve the right to edit!) I don't care what your
level of skill is. I am just as interested in the noobs as I am the vets.
Email a sound file, or send a CD or cassette. I'll figure it out. I won't
send the original back. Just the new comp.

Did I forget something? Probably, but let's get started anyway. Send me a
cut.
