First of all - congratulations to you Steven on your Abbeyfeale
success (first for going & then doing so well in competition). My
plan had been to go next spring & at least observe the competition.
I find myself in the interesting position of expecting a child
however, and the time of her arrival deems it most incovenient for
travel. That's right, I already know the gender - she's also 16 &
comes from Germany (a musician as well & most interested in learning
about bones - like her "mother", she plays drums...).
Jonathan had some info. on bones in the German/Swiss traditions &
I've already asked her about "klepperle" und "chlefeli". She has
never heard of them but then again, how many 16 year old Americans
have ever heard of the bones either? Next time I write to her, I'll
send her a copy of Jonathan's article from the Newsletter. My Swiss
contact has fallen through Jonathan, but I'm still working on getting
us some bones from Germany!
I can't begin to express how excited I am that the fest is upon us at
last - a year has been a long time! To any new member to the group,
I strongly urge you to attend in Newbedford, MA next month. I can't
overstate the educational advantages for a newcomer to the bones. I
REALLY can't overstate the fun to be had!!!
BTW I had to change my yahoo info. as my email kept bouncing through
the group so statistically speaking, I'm not to be counted as a "new
member" - just same ol' me -
