Below is a YouTube link where you can see 70-year-old John Bridgwood
(no "e" in Bridgwood) play the bones on Britain's Got Talent.

John is from Manchester in the United Kingdom and has been playing
the bones since childhood. The video includes some nice
behind-the-scenes footage.

I think the judges cut him off way too soon. John tells me he
appeared on the show in April, right at the end of the program. Maybe
that's why they buzzed him off so quickly. In any event, John did
rattle the bones on Britain's Got Talent - and he even got one yes
vote. So congratulations to John Bridgwood on this glorious
achievement!

Anyone going to be at the Mystic Seaport "Music of the Sea" symposium
Friday/Saturday (CT/USA)? I ask because I'll be there and giving a paper on WS
Mount's "The Bone Player"--and would be happy to have some bone-centric people
in the house!

Feel free to reply via christopher.smith@...; thanks!

I just hung up the phone from Kenny Wolin who is, at this moment driving to the
Seaport. He'll be performing in the kids area today I think & tomorrow for
sure. He'll be doing concertina & bones of course. In fact I think he's doing
a workshop for kids on making bones. Also Timmy Reilly is there & you can find
him with his band Barnacle playing over the weekend. I wish I could say I'd be
there as well but weekend work keeps me in Buffalo so maybe next year. If you
don't know either of these guys just introduce yourself & start talking bones -
they'll be thrilled!

John is pretty good. I suspect I would be cancelled too. Playing and
entertaining are two different worlds. I'm trying to be more entertaining.
Let's find out who's more entertaining at Bones Fest. I don't want to see any
buzzers at the Bones Fests. Don't get any ideas.
