REMINDER>>>>
Hi there, dear friends, spirits of the music!
Can you feel the new beat? It's happening now and you'll
see it yourself at the first monthly drum circle of the New Year.
This is likely to be the most exciting circle we've had in some time
(although that December event will be tough to beat).
Here's the scoop on the first circle of 2005, and our first at a
location other than the senior center in a couple of years:
January Drum Circle
*Location: Peninsula Yacht Club, map is at
http://www.pycboating.org/findingpyc.html
1536 Maple Street, Redwood City, in the Docktown Marina
*Date and Time: Monday, January 10, 2005, 6:30-9:30pm
(although we can play later here!)
*Host of the Month: Richard Saasta
*Special Event: Drum Tuning lessons (we NEED this!)
featuring the Mali Weave. A handout guide will be provided.
*Even MORE Special Event: Hand - Made drum
giveaway by Rhythmic Intentions
YES...you read that correctly. Richard is giving away a
hand-made Ashiko to the lucky winner of a drawing we will have.
This is a big deal. See the drum for yourself at
http://www.rhythmicintentions.com/drum_ashiko_2.htm.
Program for the evening:
*6:30-7:30 Special event
*7:30-8:00 drumming
*8:00-8:30 food-potluck
*8:30-9:30 free drum and dance
*8:30-9:30 free drum and dance
*9:30-10:00 clean up (all pitch in please)
A note about cleanup: At this location, we do not have a janitor
who will clean up after us, so please plan to help with that at the
end of the evening.
Big News About Our Community
As you may be aware, the RhythmXchange community has gone through
some big changes in the past year, biggest among them being the
changing role of our founder, Patter Hatfield. While
Patter will remain an important member of our group, all recognize
that it is an evolving community, rather than the group he started a
couple of years ago. For that reason, we wish to respect his
request to maintain his RhythmXchange name for other purposes.
And that gives us the opportunity to create a new name for ourselves.
Please give it thought and come next Monday with your ideas on a new
name for our group.
