"Eclecto-Maniacs," Small Potatoes to make First Appearance at RiverHouse

Friday, October 21st, Small Potatoes, the Chicago based duo of Jacquie Manning and Rich Prezioso, will be at Jumpin' Java in Charles Town, WV to make their first RiverHouse Concert appearance.  Mike Tepper, who recently became the new owner of Jumpin' Java, is excited about hosting RiverHouse at his venue, as he, himself, is a musician.

Manning and Prezioso say it has taken them many years of careful indecision to develop a repetoire they describe as "celtic to cowboy."  And, they call themselves eclecto-maniacs!  What's that?  Try, blues and swing to Irish and country to...well, just come and see!  And, not only do they play a myriad of musical styles, both sing and are superb musicians on guitars, tin whistle, flute, mandolin, bodhran, and numerous other percussion toys!

Award-winning songwriting, fabulous musicianship and showmanship, and a strong sense of tradition has made them, as Dirty Linen Magazine said, "one of the most polished, inventive, and entertaining shows on the circuit."  They are winners of the 1998 Kerrville New Folk Songwriting Contest, winners of the 1999 Falcon Ridge Folk Festival's Most Requested Artist Showcase, and were voted Best of Bound for Glory in 2000.  Bound for Glory is a weekly, live-radio concert broadcast from New York.  The show has been running for 35 years.

Small Potatoes performed three years in a row at the Kerrville Folk Festival - considered by many to be the ultimate "Songwriter's Festival," and five years in a row at the Walnut Valley Festival in Kansas, considered by many to be the ultimate "Picker's festival" -- two very different audiences with different tastes.  No other act in recent history has played both festivals for three years in a row.

This RiverHouse show will start at 8:00PM, with doors opening at 6:30 and potluck dinner at 7:00.  Admission is $10/person at the door.  Jumpin' Java is located at 109 West Washington Street in downtown Charles Town, WV. Guests should bring a dish or two to share.  Beverages will be available for purchase.  For more information, contact Cheryl Mansley at 304-702-0554 or river_house@... (notice the underscore between "river" and "house" in the email address).
