NEW CONCERT SERIES COMES TO SHEPHERDSTOWN, WV
Sunday, February 18th Greg King, owner of the “hip” Blue Moon Cafe in Shepherdstown, WV, and Cheryl Mansley, founder of the esteemed RiverHouse Concerts, will launch a brand new, weekly music series. The series, Blue Moon Sundays, will take place in the heart of Shepherdstown each Sunday evening at the Blue Moon Café on North Princes Street.
For the concerts, King is preparing a new look for his café, as well as special dinner menus, and Mansley is booking a diverse selection of artists. The series will debut February 18th with John Lilly and Diana Jones.
The multi-talented Lilly specializes in Americana, roots, country and folk. “He’s a great entertainer,” says Mansley, “and he yodels like crazy!” His creative original songs recall the sounds of earlier generations, while his innovative treatment of early country and traditional music is timeless. Lilly is recognized nationally as a powerful performing songwriter. He is also the editor of West Virginia’s Goldenseal magazine.
Heralded Nashville songwriter and NewSong Recordings artist Diana Jones will share the evening with Lilly. According to the Chicago Tribune, Jones’ album, My Remembrance of You, is the #1 Country Music Album of the Year, finishing ahead of the 2006 releases of Willie Nelson, Vince Gill and Alan Jackson. They called it a “masterwork of depth and grace.”
Last summer, Jones was named a Kerrville New Folk winner, the most prestigious award in the singer-songwriter world. And, the North American Folk Music Alliance honored her with two nominations for its Annual Awards: Best Emerging Artist and Best Song.
Admission for this show is $10/person at the door. Doors open at 5:30pm, dinner will be served from 6 to 7:00pm, and music starts at 7:00pm.
The Blue Moon Cafe is located on North Princess Street, at the corner of Princess and High. For more information, call the Blue Moon at 304-876-1920 or Cheryl at 304-702-0554, or email bluemoonsundays@....
