The DARLINGS OF SHEPHERDSTOWN to Grace the Stage at The BLUE MOON Cafe, Shepherdstown WV - March 25th

LISA LAFFERTY, KATHLEEN MCLAUGHLIN, LAURA FIRST, ANDREA HINES, SUSAN SPANGLER, TERRY TUCKER, & ARDYTH GILBERTSON!

Anyone familiar with the music scene in and around Shepherdstown, WV, is familiar with the lovely ladies Lisa Lafferty, Kathleen McLaughlin, Laura First, Andrea Hines, Susan Spangler, Terry Tucker, and Ardyth Gilbertson -  the musical darlings of Shepherdstown.  Each one is a gifted musician with an impressive musical history, and for this show, Sunday, March 25th, they will be "mixing it up" and having fun, combining their various talents to create an unforgettable evening of music.

These days, Lisa Lafferty, a well known singer-songwriter and longtime host of the Mecklenburg Inn's Tuesday night open mics, is recording a new CD of all original music with her husband Sam Janata, friends Don Oehser, Matt Lewis, and Jessie Shultzaberger, as well as others.  Lafferty is a powerful singer with a sultry voice.

Kathleen McLaughlin is known for her strong performances, singing everything from blues to playing ragtime on the piano.

Laura First and Susan Spangler are members of the popular group Singin' the Bones.  Laura First performs songs from Appalachia and Medieval Europe and is a recording artist with The National Symphony and others in the Washington D.C. area.  Susan Spangler delights audiences with her sultry vocals in both classical and jazz.  First and Spangler embrace all styles of music, from  Appalachian folk to jazz standards, blues to Scottish ballads, and jug-band tunes to Italian Renaissance. They are indescribably amazing.

Andrea Hines is a singer-songwriter who has sung with The Paul Hill Chorale in Washington DC and New York City, sung and performed piano on numerous recordings for others, and performs her own origional music, as well.  She sings in the three-person a capella group, MoonStruck, with Laura First and Susan Spangler, and the war time, harmony, swing band, The CorSettes.  She is also currently producing a new CD of her latest songs - a nice blend of pop folk with a hint of old-time country and a touch of jazz - an ecclectic mix that lilts and sways like a pleasant dance. Love songs are her specialty, with a truthfulness that evokes thoughts of old world romance.

Terry Tucker and Ardyth Gilbertson are members of the band Treehouse.  A music major in college, Terry Tucker has made music her life's work.  She started her musical career in England.  There, she wrote, performed, and recorded music for film, radio, and television.  She also performed with her band, Sunforest.  Record companies and broadcasters, such as BBC World Service Radio and Television, Oxford University Press, Leader Sound Records, Decca, and Warner Brothers all promoted Tucker’s music.  Since her return to the U.S., her songs and music have been broadcast on National Public Radio.  Nowadays, besides composing for Treehouse, Tucker also teaches and writes.  Much of her work has been published - in a great variety of places and settings, such as A Clockwork Orange, the famous cult movie of the l970s.  Ardyth Gilbertson’s lovely singing voice is rooted in country and jazz.  In the late 90’s, she performed with her jazz trio, The Ardyth Ensemble.  Gilbertson is also an actress and has numerous theatrical productions to her credit.

Admission for this show is $15/person at the door.  Doors open at 5:30pm, dinner is served from 6:00 to 7:00pm, and music starts at 7:00pm.  At each show the Blue Moon offers special dinner selections, by Chef Ezra Newkirk, designed specifically for Blue Moon Sundays.  Newkirk serves up "mouth watering" appetizers, entrees, and desserts in hearty portions.  So, come join us at the Blue Moon on Sunday evenings.  Hear some great music, eat some delicious food, and make some new friends!

Dinner reservations, with seating at 5:30 and show to follow, may be made by calling the Blue Moon Cafe at 304-876-1920.  The Blue Moon Cafe is located on North Princess Street, at the corner of Princess and High in Shepherdstown WV.  For more information, contact Cheryl Mansley at 304-702-0554 or bluemoonsundays@....  Also, visit the Blue Moon website at www.bluemoonshepherdstown.com.
