The purpose of this group is to organize jam sessions, gatherings, and other acoustic guitar related activities in Georgia, USA.

RMMGA is the internet news group (usenet) rec.music.makers.guitar.acoustic. RMMGA has been on the internet for over 15 years. A group of RMMGA members decided to get together in 2004 and hold what is called a Gathering in the Atlanta area. This has evolved into a regular gathering one Saturday afternoon each month. This is a congenial group of varying playing styles and abilities. We are currently playing in a song circle, where one person leads a song both on the guitar and vocally. Songs which are easy to follow on guitar are encouraged. Well known songs that others can also sing along to are encouraged.

Other instruments that join us on a semi-regular basis are Bass guitar (electric allowed), mandolin, flute, standup bass, small hand drums, banjo and harmonica. We're open to have other instruments join us. This is not a bluegrass jam, although we may occasionally play a bluegrass song.

Because of several spammer attacks, I have implemented restricted membership to this email list. Only membership requests which include some info about yourself, where you live, and your desire to participate in the fellowship of this group will be added. Thanks for understanding.

At this time we are holding a monthly jam in Norcross Georgia on the 4th Sat of each month at 1pm at the 45 South Coffeeehouse. Members of the Roswell group Stone Soup have a defacto invitation to join us.

In general others are encouraged to join us. It is preferred that those joining us be invited by someone on this email list. We like to know who is coming each month in advance. Those playing each month are requested to be part of this email list. This is not an open mic
