1/22 WAVES OF LOVE KIRTAN BENEFIT POSTPONED   Message List
Reply | Forward Message #140 of 215 |

Hello Friends,

After much deliberation, we have decided to postpone the special Tsunami Benefit Kirtan which had been scheduled to take place this evening,
Saturday, January 22. We apologize for any inconvenience or disappointment.
Current weather forecasts call for heavy snow and strong wind in this area with snow accumulations from 8-14 inches. It seems wisest not to ask anyone to try to travel in such conditions.

We have tentatively chosen Saturday, February 19 as the new date for the event.  Will keep you posted.  Of course, the need for relief aid will exist for quite some time to come.

Hope to see you soon.

Stay warm,

Robin Renée & Karttikeya

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

WAVES OF LOVE: Kirtan Chanting Tsunami Relief Benefit
to be held Saturday, February 19, at Princeton Center for Yoga and Health

On Saturday, February 19 at 7:30pm, the Princeton Center for Yoga and Health
(PCYH) in Skillman, NJ invites all to attend Waves of Love, a special
benefit evening of kirtan chanting and other special performances.  Featured
performers will be singer Robin Renée with drummer/percussionist Karttikeya
and singer Suzin Green with Dan Johnson on tabla and other percussion.

Kirtan utilizes the Divine Names from the Hindu tradition, though it can be
enjoyed by people of all faiths and all walks of life.  The prayerful,
loving mood cultivated by kirtan provides a wonderful way to offer empathy
and healing energy to those affected by the recent tsunami and earthquake
disaster.   Its easy call-and-response repetition makes learning a few words
in the ancient, sacred language of Sanskrit accessible and fun.  Many
experience deep stillness, bliss, and a profound sense of oneness with All.
It is soulful and peace-evoking, yet energetic and rousing.  In the spirit
of a community gathering, anyone who would like to offer a song, reading, or
prayer may contact
info@....

Robin Renée is best known as a performing songwriter and her current
rock-oriented CD is ³All Six Senses.²  She has lead chanting events
throughout the Mid-Atlantic region and has shared the stage with Krishna
Das, the West¹s best-loved kirtan singer.  Karttikeya is known as both the
drummer in the band Sea Monkey and the keyboardist for Dr. Keya.  In kirtan,
the Berklee College of Music graduate plays the South Indian Naal drum and
he is innovative with various percussion instruments and found objects.
Devotional singer Suzin Green¹s ecstatic chants can be heard on her CD
³Hearts On Fire.²  On Monday nights, she teaches Devi Yoga at PCYH, a class
offering an offbeat sanctuary for reveling in the teachings of yoga and the
bliss of the Self.  Drummer Dan Johnson was a member of Green¹s former
backing band, Sura.
A $20 donation is suggested.
All donations will go to the American Red Cross.
