From 5th St. Coffee House... More info on Friday's show w/ Monica McIntyre, Robin Renée and more!

<<

Since its inception a year ago, the 5th Street Coffee
House at St. Paul's has proved to be one of the
most wildly successful community-benefit programs
in recent memory here at the corner of 5th & Nedro. As a venue for good, soul-satisfying acoustic music, be it Bluegrass, Folk, Soft Jazz or original strings, our Olney coffee house has few equals anywhere in the region, much less locally. The atmosphere of the Listening Room is warm, friendly and gratifying. The coffee and other refreshments are real, robust and earthy. And the talent...ah, the talent.

Philadelphia and the region is ripe with musical
talent busting to be heard in a complimentary
setting, before an appreciative audience. The 5th
Street Coffee House provides that setting, and the
talent flows in. Artists of all stripes and genres
have graced the  5th Street Stage, and many more
wait in the wings.

The success of the 5th St. Coffee House is due in
large part to the generosity of the entity that
hosts it - St. Paul's Lutheran Church at the corner
of 5th Street and Nedro Avenue.

As a show of appreciation, the Coffee House is holding
a benefit concert this coming Friday, August 26.
All of the proceeds of this show will be donated
to St. Paul's, to aid in the continuance of the
many community programs that St. Paul's initiates
and hosts.

Tickets are $12 in advance, $15 at the door, and
are available from the church office at St. Paul's,
or from the Coffee House website at
http://www.5thstcoffeehouse.org

The August benefit concert is being made possible
by the generosity of the following performers:

Headliner: Monica McIntyre

Monica McIntyre is a talented cellist, vocalist,
and lyricist who started playing the cello at the
age of 7. Ms. McIntyre is originally from
Hyattsville, MD where she studied classical cello
for 11 years.

Opening Performer: Carlyn Hutchins

Carlyn was born and raised in Philadelphia.
At age 10, after she heard her oldest sister play
the guitar, she asked her parents for one, got
a 3/4 size guitar with a book of chords, and
taught herself to play. The result is one of the
most gifted guitarists we have ever hosted - don't
miss Carlyn.

Second Performer: Spider Miranda

Third Performer: Robin Renee, "one of the Garden
State's finest singer-songwriters whose spiritual
pop is a solid mix of Joni Mitchell, Joan Armatrading,
and The Beatles." - Courier News (NJ)

Come out for a Friday Evening, in Olney, of one
of the area's most exclusive venues for great
music and atmosphere, and support our community
efforts at the same time. That's this Friday,
August 26, 6:30 to 9:30.
