Hello, Beautiful-- I am back home after an epic cross-country journey!  I did a bit of journaling along the way, then quickly realized that with all the driving and keeping up with the basics, updating a blog was going to fall by the wayside.  I do have some great memories, inspiring moments, and crazy scenarios to share about the tour, though- I won't promise a timeline, but I will eventually spill it over at www.facebook.com/RobinReneeFan

I am happy to say that I got back to the East Coast just in time to attend the wedding on Halloween of Jenn Phillips and Jack Walker, my primary graphic artist/photographer and studio engineer, respectively, and great friends, both.  Congrats, Jack & Jenn!  Luckily, I still got to sport my Josephine Baker costume at a friend's belated Halloween/Samhain bash this past weekend.  :-)

Here are the latest gigs.  I hope to see the home crowd out this Saturday @ Ecco Life:

Hello, my friends!  I am feeling so blessed today-- recognizing how much love there is in the world and feeling grateful for all of the amazing people I have met so far on this tour.  It is not always easy to be out here doing this (usually) totally solo, but most of the time I remember it is a truly awesome journey.  I got to drive through and experience a good bit of the Western mountain states for the first time, and fell totally in love with Seattle.  It was so great to see all of you who came out to shows since my last shout out - in Washington, Oregon, and California.  I am in Tucson, AZ this afternoon, where it is impossibly hot at the moment.  I won't complain too much, as I have heard that driving east at some points might be quite the snowy adventure.

Got any friends in Phoenix?  Please tell them to come check out the show tomorrow.  Totally unplugged!

Hello from Seattle!

I tried to send a couple of updates along the tour - I think Yahoogroups had a few hiccups, so I'm not sure what has reached you.   Anyway, I am glad to be in touch now.  This tour has so far been a great adventure - Thanks to everyone who has come out to shows so far in OH, IL, IN, MO, KS, CO, and MT, and to all those who have been great friends and amazing helpers along the way.

Hello!

The spirit.rocks.sexy tour started off in Ohio on Saturday, 8/29, and I am now in gorgeous Colorado Springs with a show I'm excited about playing tomorrow north of Denver in Loveland, CO.  Once I headed out from Kansas City, MO, I was in all new territory.  I have never driven through nor played in this part of the country before.  I am so happy to be here!  Thanks so, so much to everyone who has come out to a concert, kirtan, or the madness of the Mutant Mountain Boys so far in Cleveland, North Canton, Chicago, French Lick, Kansas City, and Overland Park.

There are quite a few schedule additions since the last update- More confirmed shows with Heidi Swan in Montana, and another show filling in toward the end of the tour in Iowa.  This is a work in progress - Stay tuned for additions in Oregon, California, Arizona, Indiana, Pennsylvania and maybe more.  <updated schedule below>

A great way to keep in touch in pretty close to real time is to hop on the Facebook Fan Page: www.facebook.com/RobinReneeFan, and please help support the tour by picking up your very own, personalized srs gear here: www.zazzle.com/spiritrockssexy

Happy Autumn!

Robin Renée is Mantra-Pop! --accessible, lyric-driven alt-folk rock with a spiritual heart. Conscious and melodic with an edge, think of blending the voices of Chrissie Hynde and Joan Armatrading with the wordsmith intelligence of Elvis Costello and the mystical passion of Indian chant. She is an artist whose life and work thrive at the passionate intersection of music, erotic possibility, and the pursuit of deep truths. A dream involving a drag bar, a billboard, oversize sunglasses, and fire ants lead to the compilation of spirit.rocks.sexy – mantra-pop headlines from the clairaudient dreams of the evocative Robin Renée.

There is a blurb below, and you can read all about it here: www.spiritrockssexy.com.  The srs page includes links to lyrics, some fun spirit.rocks.sexy gear and a brief explanation of the enigmatic title.

The official release date is March 20th.  I can't say for sure, but pre-ordering may bring good karma!

East Coast '09

I am hitting the road for the month of February!  I'll be heading out along the East Coast and down to Virginia, North Carolina, and Florida (It will definitely be a nice time of year to escape cold New Jersey).  More gigs that are currently listed on www.robinrenee.com are in the midst of being planned, so now is the time to get in touch if you have a venue or know of one where you'd like to see me play.  There are so many places to which I'd love to return or check out for the very first time.  Help make East Coast '09 a success-- Thanks!

Happy Thanksgiving!!!

I have a few creative things in the works, but first I will be spending time tommorrow with friends, most likely stuffing myself full of Tofurkey and all the trimmings.  Here's to new and old traditions! :-)

New Tunes

I wanted to let you know that I have a newly-recorded version of "The Other End of the Line."  If you've been coming to the solo acoustic shows over the last year or so, you may have heard it there.  For now, you can hear it on MySpace: www.myspace.com/robinrenee, and it will likely be included on the upcoming spirit.rocks.sexy - The Best of Robin Renee.  Look for a compilation and a more new tunes (Brand new CD soon?  I hope so!) in the not-too-distant future.

Gigs

This weekend, I'll be sitting in with the great kirtan singer and composer, Wynne Paris.  I will be singing response vocals, and maybe playing a couple of chants of my own.  Singing with Wynne is always great - Check out his stuff & join us!  www.wynneparis.com

"Ask Robin Anything!"

Co-creating Audacious Eleven continues to be great fun.  We have a couple different ways of describing it, but mostly we like to call it "The #1 Talk Show for Shakespearean Rock `n' Roll Tech Geek Magic and Life Empowerment."  "What the heck does that mean?" you might well ask.  And you'd be right!  :-P  In the most recent episode of our reality podcast, the topic was "Ask Robin Anything."  If you're curious, check it out here: www.audaciouseleven.com, and friend us at www.myspace.com/audaciouseleven.

Again, all best wishes for a good holiday.   Keep in touch!

Hello!  This is just a quick note to let you know what I've got going on for the rest of August.  This Friday and Saturday, I've got a couple close-to-home singer/songwriter shows in Bridgetown, NJ and on South Street, Philly.   Of course, it would be great to have a hometown show of support.  Then on Friday, 8/22 I'll be providing response/backing vocalists for Karttikeya's funky, moving kirtan at IYI Princeton.   Over the long Labor Day weekend, I'll be singing and leading a workshop or two at Four Quarters Sanctuary in Artemas, PA.  I'll cut out of the festival for Saturday 8/30 to perform as one of the Mutant Mountain Boys at DEVOtional 2008 in Cleveland.  This is the second year the MMB have gotten together to perform old-timey and bluegrass covers of Devo songs.  So if ya ever wanted to hear me play the washboard...   Unfortunately, I have not yet mastered bilocation, or I'd be at the art show at Asterisk Gallery the night before, 8/29, also in Cleveland, where my wighead art piece, "Devolution Sutra" will be shown and hopefully sold for charity.

Wow- I have a lot to prepare for my shows and journeys.  I better get moving!  Please check out all the details below.  Thanks for being you.

Love,

Robin Renée

Hello!  I hope you are all enjoying summer as much as I am this time around.  I am making a point to get to the shoreline and into the woods as much as possible & am loving it.  It just occured to me that at least a few of you are on another part of the planet entirely.  In that case... enjoy the season, whatever it may be!  Here's what's up in my world...

1) Cafe Improv

I feel like I haven't been singing much in Jersey these days.  I'm happy to be on the bill at Cafe Improv this weekend in Princeton.  I hope to see some old friends there!

Saturday, July 26th  7pm
Cafe Improv

2) Yogamates Featured Musician

I had a great time responding to some good questions from Yogamates.com, and am glad to be their featured musician for the week.  Live Devotion has also been getting some play on their online station, Yogaradio.  Thanks, Yogamates!

3) Audacious Eleven Listener Drive

If you haven't gotten the chance to check out the podcast I am part of, Audacious Eleven, do take a listen!  It's reality podcasting in a sense, and you never quite know what we'll be talking about, or whether it will be serious, sexy, or supremely silly.  We've got a little contest going at the moment.  Help us out-- you may have already won a fabulous prize!  ;-)

Audacious Eleven Celebrates Show #11 with the 11:11 Listener Drive!

July 20th, 2008

The #1 Talk Show for Shakespearean Rock ‘n’ Roll Tech Geek Magic and Life Empowerment has just posted its 11th show on Sunday, July 20th. To celebrate this mystical milestone, Audacious Donna, Mary, Robin, and Wendy are holding a contest - The 11:11 Listener Drive!

Our wordy tagline points to the fact that you never know what you’ll hear on Audacious Eleven, and it’s time for even more people out there to hear it. Will all you loyal and newly intrigued listeners help us out? Here’s the deal:

Tell all your clever, interesting, hip, and/or bored friends to do two little things:

  1. Go to www.audaciouseleven.com and listen to at least one Audacious Eleven podcast.
  2. Become a friend of Audacious Eleven on MySpace at www.myspace.com/audaciouseleven. (If your friends are particularly expedient or lazy, they can access our shows right on MySpace via our blog.) When they friend us, they need to let us know you sent them. That way, we can keep score.

The first 11 people to send 11 of their friends our way will win one of 11 fabulous prizes! Prizes include the chance to pick an Audacious Eleven discussion topic, your very own cartoon avatar a la Audacious Eleven, never-before-heard outtakes from the show, CDs, and curios from the homes of the four audacious women who are Audacious Eleven, and more. We won’t tell you what the “more” consists of yet, but rest assured, those prizes are fabulous, too.

So have at it. Thanks for playing!

Love,

Audacious Eleven

Hello friends!

First, I just wanted to let you know about a couple of happenings I'll be a part of this weekend. If you are in the Northern New Jersey area, come listen and say hello at Prana Yoga:

Friday, May 2nd 7:30pm
Prana Yoga Center
*1st Year Anniversary concert/kirtan
78 Broadway, Denville, NJ 07834
973-627-9642, www. pranayogadenville. com

w/ Param, drummer/percussionist

And on Saturday, I'll be doing a performance and interview on Princeton TV's 30-hour Megathon at 10am on TV30 (Megathon begins 6pm 5/2 and ends midnight 5/3).  I can't wait to find out what the quite possibly very sleepy hosts might want to talk about on the air.  Should be fun and very impromptu. If you're not in the Princeton area, you can see the whole Megathon online.

Check it out!

Saturday, May 3rd 10am
Live on Princeton TV 's 30-hour Megathon
TV30 and online @ www. princetontv. org
Princeton Community Television
With hosts Ron Cohen, Adam Bierman & The Captain
609-252-1963

I have also been having lots of fun co-creating a podcast with a few friends of mine.  It's called Audacious Eleven, and we chat about just about everything  -- ridiculous, racy, you name it.  At the moment, we like to call it "The #1 Talk Show for Shakespearean Rock `n' Roll Tech Geek Magic and Life Empowerment!"   I hope you listen, send your comments, friend us on MySpace, and give us suggestions for future shows:

ROBIN RENEE on PANDORA.COM

If you aren't already a fan of Pandora.com, go check it out! It is a
music genome project where you start your own radio stations based on
a song or a band you like, and Pandora finds all sorts of well-known
to obscure music that you will likely dig. It's great fun, it's very
interactive, and LIVE DEVOTION has just been added into the mix.

I'll be lobbying them to add In Progress and All Six Senses too. So

Hello everyone!  I've been keeping the live gigs precious & few lately, but there are a couple of opportunities in December for us to do the music thing face to face!

Gigs:

This Saturday, I'll be performing at the Holiday Arts Fest in Red Bank, NJ.  The event starts at noon & I'll be singing at the Internet Café at 12:45pm, and then again later in the afternoon upstairs at Dancing Foot Yoga:

Holiday Spirit:

Remember that chanting soothes the soul and a peace-evoking CD is a wonderfully unique gift idea (Doh!).  You can pick up Live Devotion at either of the live shows and here are even more options:

All Six Senses and In Progress are also available in digital form just about everywhere.

Please share the music!

If you were into my former band The Loved Ones, you may remember our tune Almost Had a Holiday.  Well, since it's that time of year again, the song is online for a bit on MySpace.  Not too many people have yet heard this new solo acoustic version.  Hope you enjoy it!

Hello, my friends! I've just been asked by curator Tricia Fagan to
perform at a very cool event-- In conjunction the Dangerous Women
Two art exhibit at Mercer County Community College, I will be
performing a new work to honor Beatrice Wood (1893-1998), the
dynamic and spiritual ceramicist, actress, artist, and Dada muse.
This will be a unique performance with a lot of other diverse
artists. I have a feeling that denizens of the New Brunswick music
scene from back in the day will especially like this one.

past.

The following Saturday will be my first time singing for Polyamorous-
NYC's Poly Pride Day. I'll be performing a half-hour or so set on a
beautiful day in Central Park. All are welcome-- Please bring a
picnic and come hang out!

In other news, I had a ton of fun this summer singing with The
Mutant Mountain Boys on 8/25 at DEVOtional 2007 at Beachland
Ballroom in Cleveland, OH. Lead vocalist and banjo player Samantha
from Tucson, AZ arranged our set of bluegrass-flavored Devo covers.
Yep. I'm a total geek! :-)

From Bill Gee @ Home Stage:

Home Stage Presents: Voices for Peace Night, May 12th, 8PM

Home Stage is a small music venue out of an art gallery in Mount Holly, NJ.
We are dedicated to providing high-quality performances by local and
regional singer/songwriters in a wonderfully intimate and beautiful setting.
Our main gallery space is in a 150-year old house in the historic
Mill RaceVillage of downtown Mount Holly. Our space holds 35 people, which is
perfect for an intimate performance that is not unlike listening to your
favorite performer doing a live show right in your own living room.

Come join us for an intimate musical experience that you know only Home
Stage can deliver as local musicians offer their original musical talents on
topic of War, Peace, and Reconciliation.

Two years ago, we were inspired by a speech given by His Holiness, the Dali
Lama at an event at Rutgers University. In His unprepared remarks, he spoke
candidly on the topic of War, Peace and Reconciliation. We have chosen three
local musicians who have made this message a central theme in their music.

Traditional Folk musician Tom Mullian has been performing extensively in the
greater Philadelphia area, armed with his signature gourd guitar,
bringing his message of Peace and the truth as he sees it regarding the Iraq
War. Mantra-pop musician Robin Renee is quickly becoming a local
favorite among practitioners of yoga as she brings her message of
inner-peace to new audiences proving that "mantra" does not mean
"boring."  New Folk musician Carol Barbieri has had her share of
adversity throughout her life, and brings her message of reconciliation to
audiences.

Tickets for this event are $15 each and may be purchased at the Home Stage
website (
www.homefineart.org/homestage.htm) or at Home Fine Art Gallery, 2
Church Street, Mt. Holly.

To help the cause of Peace throughout the world, the profits from this
event, Home Stage will donate the profits to Vermont based charity World
Learning Inc. Founded in 1932 as The Experiment in International Living,
World Learning is one of the oldest private, nonprofit, international
educational organizations in the world. All World Learning programs -
education, training, study abroad, international exchange and international
development - are designed to provide learning experiences that lead to
greater understanding and cooperation between people, communities and
nations drawn closer by the forces of globalization. Through distinctive
educational methods based on experiential learning and the integration of
theory and practice, World Learning's major operating units - The Experiment
in International Living, the School for International Training, and World
Learning for International Development - build knowledge, develop leaders
and effect change. More information can be found at

On tour from Berkeley CA, Outmusic Awards Recipient, Indiegrrl Songwriting Contest winner, & Rose St. founder, Irina Rivkin's compelling, powerful, poetic songs blend elements of folk & world music, with an all-original sound influenced by her Russian heritage.  Her performance includes live-on-the-spot vocal arrangements, swirling vocal percussive beats, & textured interweaving harmony that she creates on-stage using a loop station instrument!   Her CD "upwelling" has received airplay on over 100 radio programs.  Contact menage98@... to RSVP for concert and for directions.
