LAST LINES of HORROR
"The schoolhouse being deserted soon fell to decay, and was reported
to be haunted by the ghost of the unfortunate pedagogue and
the plough-boy, loitering homeward of a still summer evening,
has often fancied his voice at a distance, chanting a melancholy
psalm tune among the tranquil solitudes of Sleepy Hollow."

   bands schedule:

2:30pm Venus n' Furs

3:30pm Eric Boyd & His Machines

6:30pm The Devilz in the Detailz

7:30pm The Legendary Hucklebucks

- On Sunday, the 26th following the zombie walk, there will be a
performance by DEATHMOBILE!

=============================================================
               What is Zombie Fest™?

Zombie Fest™, a weekend of zombie fun and monster madness in
Pittsburgh, includes:

  · A two-day zombie-themed convention at the Monroeville Mall, site
of the Romero zombie classic Dawn of the Dead, featuring vendor
exhibits, film screenings, author discussion panels, live bands,
games and other fun activities for zombie fans. And in 2008, it's
FREE admission!

  · We are also planning some after-hours activities on Saturday
evening – details to be announced soon!

  · The Zombie Masquerade Ball is the monster party of the century!
Eat, drink, dance, and rub elbows with the upper crust undead!
Prizes awarded for best overall costume and best zombie costume. The
Ball also includes live entertainment and a silent auction (last
year's auction raised $1,000 for breast cancer research!). The Ball
is a 21 and over event and there will be a separate admission fee.

  · On Sunday morning, zombies, young and old, will gather at the
Mall, shambling and moaning for brains while bearing food donations
for the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank. Led by Professor
Emcee Square, the horde of zombies slowly made their way from one end
of the mall to the other. In 2007, the total number of zombies who
signed in was 1,028, establishing a new Guinness World Record™, and
more than half a ton of food was collected. The walk was honored
with a Rondo Hatton Classic Horror Award for Best Fan Event of 2007.
In 2008, the Monroeville Mall Zombie Walk will be the hub of World
Zombie Day™, with walks being held in more than 50 cities worldwide
benefiting local food banks.

When & Where will it be held?

The It's Alive! 2008 Zombie Fest™ will be held on Saturday & Sunday,
October 25 & 26, 2008 inside the Monroeville Mall. Hours are 10 AM
to 9:30 PM on Saturday and noon to 6 PM on Sunday (Zombie Walk takes
place from 9 AM to 11 AM on Sunday).

The Zombie Masquerade Ball will be held at Churchill Valley Country
Club on Friday, October 24 from 9 PM to 1 AM

LAST LINES of HORROR

"The corpse, already greatly decayed and clotted with gore, stood
erect before the eyes of the spectators. Upon its head, with red
extended mouth and solitary eye of fire, sat the hideous beast whose
craft had seduced me into murder, and whose informing voice had
consigned me to the hangman. I had walled the monster up within the
tomb!"

Hey folks, it looks like the drummer search is over. Colonel Ruslan the crazy
Russian, of the band The Clox (http://www.youtube.com/user/psevdomusic), got
back to me in time. So the Death Star Repairmen (Captain Zorikh on vocals,
harmonica, and guitar, Eli Maniscalco on bass, and Colonel Ruslan on drums) will
be performing at 9 Pm at The Shrine on 7th Ave between 133rd & 134th St.
(http://www.shrinenyc.com/index.php) We may well be the first rockabilly combo
to perform in the venue (shades of Buddy Holly at the Apollo), so it is sure to
be a wild time! No cover, so come on down and drink a lot!

Dusk Devils Free Sat in Bakersfield + News

This Saturday, Sept. 27, The Dusk Devils will play all night, free
admission, 9 pm-1 am, at a place in Bakersfield called B Ryders

7701 White Lane,
Bakersfield, CA
661-397-7304

This'll be your only chance to hear the band's ENTIRE repertoire,
should you stay (or just drop by and say "hi"!)... They're doing
their traditional mix of "high energy Americana rock and roll," as
Rick described it on his site -- originals and non-originals.

Other upcoming shows are Oct. 7 in Hollywood; Oct. 18 in San Diego;
and Oct. 31 in Bakersfield. To see flyers for all shows, click here:

The band just went live on itunes, also. Here is the link:

As of this week, the songs on the myspaces will no longer be freely
available, since the band's selling CDs to build up the gas kitty for
upcoming out of town and state shows.

Thank you for forwarding the email, helping to spread the word, and
for your support. Have a great week-remainder and if you're in
Bakersfield, hope to see you Saturday. :)

Hey, Kats and Kits. Captain Zorikh here.

Drummer #1 is is play9ing for some belly dancers in Long Island. Drummer #2 had
death in family. Still waiting to hear back from drummer #3, a crazy Russian
guy.

Got a last-minute gig at the Shrine bar in Harlem this Thursday, and it turns
out the Death Star Repairmen are lacking a drummer.

Anyone within striking distance interested in pounding the skins for 45 minutes
of fun, energetic, irreverent rockabilly and its related forms this Thursday
night? Pay would be a share of the drinks and a tip bucket.

Hey, Kats and Kits, Captain Zorikh, that rockabilly can sometimes known as the
Death Star Repairman will be celebrating his birthday by hitting not one, but
TWO open mikes in Manhattan this Saturday, September 6!

The first one will be at Banjo Jim's at 700 E. 9th Street, just off Ave C. Sign
up is at 2:45, and the music begins at 3:00 PM

The second one will be at Paddy Reilly's, the famous bar the Black 47 used to do
weekly gigs at. It is located at 519 2nd Ave at 29th Street, and they know how
to pour a proper Guinness! Sign up is at 5:30The action begins there at 6:00 PM.

If we last that long we might make it to the open jam at Fat Cat on 75
Christopher Street at 1:30 AM.

There will be a diner stop along the way at a place to be determined.

I would love to see as many people along this “crawl” as possible. Those of you
who are musicians (and I know who you are) are invited to jam with me or to sign
up and do your own open mike performance.

You can join in at any point along the crawl. Just call me at 917-865-1214 if
you are not sure where I am at any particular moment to join (like if you want
to join in the “to be determined” dinner stop).

Happy Birthday to Me! (If you were there last year, you know how old I am this
year!)

Hey, you spaced-out Kats and Kits. Captain Zorikh here.

For those of you that are crossover fans of Sci-Fi and blues music, WUSB, the
radio station of SUNY Stony Brook, had its weekly sci-fi show play blues and
related music from such artists as myself, Emerald Rose, The Boogie Knights,
Laurence Rosenthal, Tim Russ, Jim Byrnes, Robert Rodriguez, Taj Mahal, and Dick
Hyman. I was actually honored by opening the show, in honor of the new Star
Wars: The Clone Wars movie. They played my “Stormtrooper Blues,” which is on
both of my latest CD's, “The Death Star Repairmen: Another Night in Mos Eisley”
and “The Three Chord Monte Strikes Again 1.5.” It is immediately followed by a
spoof of Elvis' “Heartbreak Hotel” and “Dungeon Blues” from the Boogie Knights.
It goes on from there.

You can hear the broadcast anytime at
http://www.captphilonline.com/Destinies.html. Simply scroll down to the
“Currently available episodes” and click on the grey stripe below the picture of
the Max Rebo band, the blue furry guy from “Monsters, Inc,”, the blue diva from
“5th Element,” and the blue lady jedi who got fragged in Episode III. Oh, wait,
I get it, they are all blue, and all sci-fi fantasy characters, Sci-fi blues!

You can see more about the Death Star Repairmen, the original Star Wars
Rockabilly band at http://www.captainzorikh.com/dsr/, and order the Captain
Zorikh and Death Star Repairmen CD's from Watch This Space at
http://www.captainzorikh.com/wts/catalogue.html.

See you on the Kessel run, all you hot rodders!

Hey you Kats and Kits, Captain Zorikh here with two bits of news:

CityofFame.com has posted a video of me singing John England's rockabilly
tribute to the NYC subways, "Bound For Brooklyn." You can see it at
http://cityoffame.newyork.com/watch/20d2abefe558796b9958/Cowboy-Zurich. I'd love
to know what you think.

Tonight is the monthly Grapple Den wrestling party!! The theme this month is
“Life's a Beach” summertime beach party! There will be optional suntan oil
wrestling and music from the Beach Boys, Jimmy Buffet, Dick Dale, etc. you get
the idea (well, I consider surf and beach music a form related to Rockabilly).
So grab your trunks, bikini, and beach ball and head on down to Tagine at 9th
Ave near 40th St. in Manhattan. The party runs from 10 PM to 1:30 AM, admission
is $20 for individuals, $30 for couples, $10 after midnight.

It's always an adventure with Captain Zorikh!

<http://dropdeadfestival.com>

I am often asked by people who have never been to the Drop dead festival
<http://dropdeadfestival.com> , what is it... Although its hard to
describe Drop Dead Festival, you really do have to be there here is some
background:
We started out in NYC 6 years ago in the legendary CBGBs club, and
following years also held in in Limelight and Knitting Factory
Festival has grown and became the best known and largest festival for
the really underground and outside of mainstream stuff.

From day one of the main goals of the festival was to give bands that
are ignored by mainstream a larger audience and to help dj's promoters
and clubs from across the world who work with this type of music to meet
each other and work together.

In nyc we worked hard on introducing post punk, gothic punk and
deathrock scenes to the horror punk and surf and psychobiology and
rockabilly scenes. Although people really liked the new music they found
many of them really didn't know about it before the festival. We usually
had 3 floors with multiple stages and a dance floor as well as movie
screenings, and other events.

We also try to book weirder bands as well as some NDW, wave, electro
punk, anarcho punk and more.

Many of those type of bands have followings that are very fanatical and
follow only that type of music.

Drop Dead has been a place for those fans to find more and to open up to
new things.

The NYC and Los Angeles Drop Dead has been attended by people from all
over America and the world. Over the years many people have asked us to
bring the festival to Europe, and the idea appealed to us as well
becouse it gave us a chance to book bands we couldn't in America because
of the expensive flight prices.

Last year Drop Dead Festival hit Europe for the first time – Drop
Dead Festival Prague , CZ. Festival was one of the most diverse and
successful DD festivals so far and in 2008 we are brining DDF back to
Europe. For 2008 we will be in Lisbon Portugal Becouse of the amazing
location as well as a really great music scene there.

Rock N Roll Purgatory corporate headquarters has sent orders for us
lowly warehouse workers and sales staff to get rid of our remaining
T-shirts as soon as possible, or else they will be booted into the
gutters to rot and die in shame and ignominy. These gorgeous garments
have bunked in our closets rent-free for too long, and the time has
come for them to be someone else's beautiful burden. Imagine how you
will swell with pride as you strut down the street wearing these
ever-fashionable items close to your skin in absolute tactile bliss,
being envied by all those around you who didn't jump at the chance to
make an honest T-shirt out of one of these attractive, preshrunk
cotton hotties.

They are only $12 postage paid.

They are one-sided, two-color Dia De Los Muertos Bandito design on
quality Hanes Heavyweight shirts.

You can see them and purchase them thru Paypal at:

www.rocknrollpurgatory.com

You're doing a good thing. You won't be sorry.
