Much as they did with their 2003 debut, Another Evolution, DJ Monkey, er, monkeyed around with this advance version of their second LP, dropping three tracks and completely reshuffling the song order before officially releasing the final product in July 2006 as 3rd World War. Which I guess makes Higher Authority a collector's item — thanks Joey! The new one (alright, so it's not new anymore, sue me) is equally as impressive as its genre-smashing predecessor, mashing hip hop, jazz, spoken word, hard rock, funk and soul into a tangy guacamole of edgy, emotional tunes. Buyer beware: if you like your musical meals served in a bento box, you will not dig DJ Monkey. This groaning platter overflows with ideas — don't wear white.
