She was beautiful, mysterious and cool. However, we can't go on
about Bobbie Gentry without bringing her extraordinary talent and
life. Born in the most unassuming circumstances in Mississippi, she
found her voice through music at an early age. From there, she
pursued her education in music composition in Southern California
and became a showgirl in Las Vegas. It was in nightclubs in Vegas
where Ms. Gentry created one of the greatest performers in country
music as well as popular music of the sixties and seventies

Bobbie Gentry's influence can still be felt today. You can hear it
in performers such as Sheryl Crow, Shelby Lynne and the Dixie
Chicks. It's wasn't Country, It wasn't Soul and it wasn't Rock n
Roll. It was all of them and there weren't that many artists who
could walk the line that divides all three, but Bobbie could.

It's her sense of songcraft, storytelling, voice and beauty that
make Bobbie Gentry an artist worth celebrating and ROCKWIRED is
giving this lady her due
