Brian Tarquin : Emmy Award Winning GR-09 User Together with his programmer/producer partner Chris Ingram, Los Angeles-based guitarist and composer Brian Tarquin has his fingers dipped in all flavors of musical pies. Having made a name for himself on the crossover acid jazz/smooth jazz tip with a trio of successful instrumental albums in the late-’90s and simultaneously written music for TV and film, Tarquin and his partner began experimenting with electronica – a natural extension of their shared love of British big beat artists like Fatboy Slim, Prodigy and the Chemical Brothers. The next thing they knew they’d formed Asphalt Jungle, made an album, Electro Ave, and the positive reviews came flooding in. MTV subsequently used one of the songs from the album as the theme song to the series Road Rules and ABC picked up “Tinsel Town” for its show Making The Band. “I used the GR-09 all over the Asphalt Jungle album, especially for quirky electronic sounds. Being a guitarist it worked out well because I was able to control it from my guitar. It has some great sweep Patches and Prodigy-like swells. It’s my favorite sound source for electronica.” http://www.briantarquin.com/
