Check digit errors mean that the data didn't make it intact, i.e. the
DR-5 adds a check digit to each block of data it sends, when it is
received the software performs the same calculation on the data and
compares the check-digit; if they are the same then all is well, if
they are different it means the data has been corrupted. Why the data
is corrupted I can't say without more information. I would check the
cables, plugs, etc. It is possible that the internal battery might be
flaky if this is only happening on one of your DR-5's but not the
others. If it is only happening on your laptop but not your previous
PC then this implies a problem with the MIDI interface, driver
software or an incompatibility with other software installed.
