Re: [Roland BOSS Dr 5 Support Group ] chord progressions and the elusive user's guide

Doug,

The book to which you're making reference is called: "Boss DR-5 Dr. Rhythm
Section User's Guide" by Scott Summers.? It's actually a Roland Corporation
publication and I suspect out of print.

Your're best bet may be to watch ebay or some similar site for a used copy.

Here's a link for an auction that recently ended that included the User's Guide:

That book, "The Encyclopedia of Boss DR-5 Chord Patterns", is
available to view in almost complete form (probably 90% or more) for
free on Google books. It does not appear to have what I am looking
for, more how to write a song using the DR-5 and some basic music
theory. Maybe it is in the missing sections but based on the table of
contents, I don't think so.

I am looking for one that is referenced on this site:
http://www.rubiconsystems.com/paul/dr5faq.htm#_Toc441593531
It says "This book provides additional information about how to
operate the DR-5 and detailed descriptions of the patterns. Pattern
descriptions include key, chords and solo parts." I have also seen a
very few references to it on other message boards. It is supposed to
have descriptions of the basic patterns with charts of the chord
progressions and lists of the scales that can be played over each
section. It may be written by someone named Scott Summers but I am
not sure of that. Any help would be useful.
