Hey there everyone... thanks so much for all the emails but it looks
as though I am going to close up this Yahoo Group...
It seems like spam seeps its way into these pages more than tour and
music info so I think it's best to redirect everyone here to either
my myspace, facebook, or email list.
If you can write to me at info@... and shoot me your email
address and where you live I can definitely keep you informed about
any album, tour, or music news along the way, especially in your
area. That would be really great. Thanks.
Feel free to check the following links to stay up to date on events
and other news:

Again - thanks and hope to be in touch and see you all in the near
future....
Appreciate it,
Romi
Thanks for the heads-up. It is on Romi's MySpace and Facebook pages.
Ssorry I am going to miss that one.

Hi Rawmy Fans,
I went to Romi's concert in Sudbury Sunday, a two and a half to three
hour drive from here. Walked over to the "Townehouse Hotel" on 206
Elgin Street, across the road so to speak from the Railroad Station.
You get off the train, walk across the street, get a room, go down to
the bar and wait for them to appear. That could have been yesterday,
it may be tomorrow, it is today.
The new music "under the radar" is coming your way. This is the new
sixies message music. Roots, new folk, whatever its name, it's not the
name, it is not about the type of sound, it is the message, and there
are different ways of saying it. I could say more, but why interfere
your journey.
Back to my trip to Sudbury.. Went to the townhouse, Got there around
7:30 because I wanted my seat. After a while I asked the bar tender if
Romi was still coming. He said, "absolutely". Good enough for me I
though. Then I asked, " when is she playing" and he said, "9:00".
Went for a walk around the downtown. Cold enough to control your
walking speed, if you let.
Once back at the townhouse the band showed up at nine started playing
around 10:00 or 11:00, who cares and who's keeping score. I had a good
time not waiting. Hell, I even saw a "Laughing Buddha". Then Romi
stepped up to the mike and just did her thing. Sounded just like the
CD only better. Live music, real people living in an unreal world.
Then just when I thought "how good is this", Andrew Neville and the
"Poor Choices".
Andrew started the set with "If youre goin' be stupid, you better be
tough", from that moment, they had my attention. Thank you Romi
Mayes, Andrew Neville and the Poor Choices for an envening of gift
giving.
What a night.
Appreciate it all.
This may sound too personal, but life is personal to me. This is who I
am. Ain't easy sometimes. There are; as my Dad would say,"there are
horses asses out there", but that's the way it is.
I want to see the whole world my way, and until I see different, I
assume the other person sees this world the same way as well.
You owe it to yourself, to see these people live and buy the CDs.

Review of Hugh's Room, Toronto, March 14. I was not there, but
intensely interested, so I got a review from a friend who was there.
Below is her brief review, edited slightly (by me) to omit a few more
personal asides (since this was a personal email) and to complete a
couple of details.
Anyone else got reviews of the Ontario shows??
Mark
Hugh's Room is perfect for her. She really seemed to enjoy herself
and only swore on stage once. I think she was trying to be a lady.
She made a comment about dressing in a gown for the occasion, which
got a "yeah right!" from me. The house was full & everyone was
happy. I don't think she's used to a respectful audience who were
actually listening to her and not talking and drinking up. I think
quite a few of the people were there just to see her, because there
was a lot of recognition of the music and a few comments directed at
the stage. She played for almost an hour and was clapped back for an
encore.
She did a Willie P tune. She had that big, brilliant smile on her
face all night. The other gal, Roxanne Potvin, was the main
performer. She is talented and has a voice, but her music didn't
grab me. I'd love to see Romi back there for her own show.
There was a female guitar [and lap steel] player, Christine [Bougie],
who played both sets. She is amazing, and she got claps and hoots
almost every time she took it away. Very plain when she was
concentrating, but a wonderful smile that really lit up her face.
Romi said the bass [Darcy Yates] and guitar player [Christine Bougie]
learned her stuff the day before.
I thoroughly enjoyed myself. Romi played "She Didn't Try Her Best"
during the set.
Got Fred coming up in a couple of weeks.
Mark, don't be a quitter. :=) :-) There's always rum, irish
whiskey,scotch ect............
Funny story. The real ones always are.
I have enjoyed Skumms reviews of shows.
This one show be easy to write, if it doesn't get too hazy with Mayeszie.

Yes, buy her two. Jim Beam preferred, as I understand it.
Last summer on my way to Cicada Fest at the duty free shop crossing the
border I bought a bottle as a gift for her. Romi did not make the
festial, and I was sad about that. So as not to let it go to waste
(and in part out of spite), I enlisted her fellow Winnipeggers, Scott
Nolan and Joanna Miller to help by try to drink the whole bottle. We
did a pretty good job. I told Scott to deliver the message back to
Romi that I had a bad liver and a broken heart, and it was all her
fault. Hehehe. (Oh, sorry to laugh at my own jokes.)
I have since forgiven her, but have not touched Bourbon since.

I'm in training to move beyond years of amateur status up to the
professional level of Gynecology. I had a dream where the ghost of
John Lennon handed me a flaming pie and told me if I stayed on the
wagon for 3 months my wish would come true.
Buy Romi a bourbon when you see her Bob.

Mr. Skumm are you in training for your marathon? Romi is going to be
in Sudbury in March. I should drive over and see the lady on the CD. I
only have her last one and it is one of those rare CDs that every song
is special.
Bob
Unfortunately I won't be around for those shows...I caught Romi and
Dustin (along with Leeroy Stagger)up at The Cameron House last winter,
and they were great, but since I'm training and not drinking I thought
I'd better get out of the country before The Wild Woman of Winnipeg
stormed into the province.

Hi all --
It is way too silent here.
If you haven't already, check out Romi's upcoming tour dates in Ontario
in mid-March. Anybody here lucky enough to live nearby enough to get
there? (You lucky bastiges!) Can we expect full reports here?

more...and now that I know it will accept .mov's that I shoot with
the digital (still) camera there's a ton of stuff from the last few
years ...if I can locate it in one of the teetering piles of stuff
backed up on discs around my computer. Anyhow the recent crop

Figino Serenza is a small village near Cantů, a bigger town very
close to Como (15 km) and not far from Milan (45 km).
Figino is 5 km from the centre of Cantů. There isn't a train station
in Figino. If you want to come by train the solution is to reach
Mariano Comense train station with the "ferrovie nord". You can take
the train in Milano Cadorna.
Then from the train station of Mariano Comense there is a bus that
goes to Cantů and stop in Figino. The number of the bus is C89.
There are not many runs... no more than 1 per hour... maybe less...
but in the afternoon this can be a good option. If you reach Cantů
somehow, there will be of course bus that can take you to Figino, or
maybe a cab.
Here below some telephone numbers of hotel around this area:
CASSINAZZA (very nice agritourism in Orsenigo, 10 km from Figino,
not expensive): 031 631468
HOTEL LA SCALETTA (small nice hotel in Cantů, not expensive): 031

HOTEL CANTURIO (very nice hotel in Cantů, not cheap) 031 716035
PARK HOTEL (beautifil and expensive hotel in Figino Serenza,
walkable from the venue where many of the artists will stay) 031
780792
ALBERGO SOLE (cheap old hotel in Mariano Comense) 031 745433
Place to eat:
OSTERIA LA VIGNETTA (my favourite place in Cantů, tipical food of
the lake and the mountains around, very cheap!) 031 706286
