My name is Rick Davis, and I am coming out of the closet for real this time.
You may know me now as a peace-loving Silver City-based musician, activist and
non-profit business consultant. Well, life hasn't always been this simple for
me. As a former high-ranking executive with all the excessive perks of success,
I was addicted to the rewards of the classic American Dream. Competition,
domination and control ran my life ragged. Winning was the only name of the
game and I won nearly every game I entered. My big-city life was full of
trophies ranging from the fancy car, the big home, several corner offices, and

My creativity and hard work was well rewarded, but something was still missing
from my picture of success. That something missing turned out to be me. The
"real me" had disappeared from my own life and I was the last to figure it out.

According to the American Dream of having it all, I had arrived very quickly.
Mine was a hyper-speed trip, going from childhood games on the mean streets of
Omaha to doing million-dollar deals at the top of the World Trade Center. But
at the pinnacle of my material success, I realized that I still wasn't happy.
No matter how much I could ever win and consume, unconditional fulfillment and
contentment was not part of my life. Even though I had everything a person
could want, I decided that it was time to make some drastic changes in order to
realize true happiness and re-gain my spiritual connection to life.

Automatically doing what others wanted me to do and ignoring my inner voice just
didn't work for me anymore. I had indeed reached the end of material
fulfillment and begun my spiritual journey at the tender age of 30.

To say the least, the demand for self-actualization comes when you least expect
it.
Everyone will know this demand one way or another.
On the road again….. quite a bit different this time.

When I started on my new journey to find true happiness, all I knew was that I
could no longer use the same criteria for success that I had used in the past.
Financial gain - no longer criteria. Career advancement - no longer criteria.
The simple criteria of discovering inner peace and knowing happiness is all that
remains.

Inner peace is what I have discovered.
Happiness is what I have become.
Unconditional self-love is the key.
