Hi all. I'm an older wanna be drummer(I'm 45). I already play the
guitar and have always been musically inclined. I decided I wanted to
play the drums, having experimented with hand drums. I have such a
long way to go with my learning. I appreciate all the posts and look
forward to my musical journey. I'm presently looking for a drumming
instructor. We only have two shops where I live. The internet is also
a great place to find drumming tidbits(that's how I found this site
and many others). I have my drum sticks and a practice pad. I'm
contemplating getting the practice foot pedals that I've seen
advertized in a link from here. I purchased an electric drum kit from
Yamaha that I need to set up in the living room. Then I just need to
learn my rudiments. Now my question...with so much instruction
available, where do I start? Learn my rudiments on my pad until I
master them? Then start on my drum kit? Any input is much appreciated.
Thank you all for posting.

Since you need to pay more attention to details, practicing rudiments on a pad or electric drums would be inconvenient. I am not saying that it won't work, but...
