The aim of this group is to discuss and exchange information on russian popular music (i.a. rockmusic, singer-songwriters, jazz, world music, popsa and other aspects of popular music). This includes general information, scientific / academic material, contacts within the russian popular music communities etc.

The group is open to people active within the academic field of Russian popular music (inter alia popular music studies, ethnomusicology, russian studies, literature studies, culture studies, sociology, history, linguists, folklorist, journalists) and strives for an interdisciplinary approach to the field.

The official languages of the list are english and russian (when using Russian it is advised to use latin characters to avoid problems reading the mails through mixed up character encodings).
