Hey, I've Arrived (Without Traveling!!)

Hello all fellow RXH fans, glad to be amongst
yous! My "story" began about five-six years ago when i
was dredging some bargain bins (a favorite
passtime)for any good deals, and ran into "Hey Man!" for
$7.99. I kind of looked real hard at it, as i wasn't at
all familiar with Richard at that point. I guess from
the colorful and clever cover concept, coupled with
Richard's fashion statement, convinced me enough that at
$7.99 it was worth seeing if this guy was at all "pop"
or something altogether different. So, i went home
with that and a few other purchases, perhaps a bit
skeptical about what i would end up hearing. Well, any of
you can probably imagine the shock and JOY as the
opening track "Falling Away" kicked in - i was floored!
But i was even more floored as the disc played on, in
disbelief that so many pop gems would be crammed onto one
title, and moreso that this was a name i had never heard
before! Well i cherished that cd (and still do!), and
dutifully informed the few folks i am in touch with who
also love well-crafted pop (one of those people is a
die-hard fan to this day). It was not quite a year or
perhaps even two later, when i was once again dredging
the bargain bins (same chain store, different
location)and my jaw fell as i flipped through the $6.99's and
$7.99's all of a sudden running into one with a rather
distinctive $.99 price sticker on it! And, it was, of course,
Living Room. I'll tell you, that was one of the longest
20-minute rides i have ever taken to get home, SO anxious
to hear this earlier effort (i still had no concrete
idea as to how many titles Richard had recorded and
released at that point). Well, needless to say i was
pretty much as impressed as i had been upon hearing "Hey
Man!", and to this day that $.99 purchase only falls
ahead of the $7.99 for "Hey Man!" as the best rock'n
roll dollars (value for the money) that i have ever
spent! Well, as you may note, i am not blessed with a
whole lotta brevity, at least not when it comes to
discussing things near and dear to my heart! So, when i post
my NEXT message, telling the story of finally
getting to see Richard and Nancy play in Boston last
August and meeting them, etc., if you are pressed for
time DON'T attempt to read it!!!
Also, i shot some
really nice 35mm color that night, and will be glad to
share the scanned shots with the Fan Club or with other
individual fans. Just email me if you are interested. Bye
for now!
Rick
