Excellent tight set, I had 'I want to kill somebody' in my head all
the way back to Surrey.
Is there anywhere I can get the newer stuff from? Icon, particularly...
Goes out 9pm-11pm on line http://wax-music.com/Noise_Welcome.htm
On tonights show we will be playing tracks from S*M*A*S*H, The Faires
Band, Gear, Radiohead, Nebraska, Gin Palace and The Swear as Artful
tracks for the next 7 days and some Sex Pistols.

S*M*A*S*H are in top spirits for tomorrow (bit of an old skool get
together of collisionpop) and now Julien Temple has joined the Artful
party and there will be a double bill of THE FILTH & THE FURY and THE
GREAT ROCK N ROLL SWINDLE together for the first time (+ director's Q+A
on the last day of Artful, 31st October - more at
http://www.artful.ik.com
Exciteder of Deptford!
Going on Thursday to The Barfly in Camden? Get there early. An evening
of ENTERTAINMENT has been laid on for Thursday night with a bill that
kicks ass from the word go...
Gear are on at 8pm - You can download the nterview (done earlier this
month at the Artful photo/film/radio session on New Cross Road) Earwax
at http://www.wax-music.com or stream it at
http://www.myspace.com/earwaxradio
Then White Man Kamikaze, described by smashmusic.co.uk as "furious punk
that would make Iggy and the Stooges shit themselves.". wild rocking
punk for wild rocking punks.
Then The Fairies Band - Artistes, artists and works of art. A crazy,
positive mix of blondie, the slits, faces, kinds and the who. The songs
are a blend of honest lyrics, melodic harmonies and sheer soaring
rock'n'roll joy.
Then S*M*A*S*H! live on stage, up close and personal headlinging the
New Artful Riot.
DJs are Julian The Hooligan (ex These Animal Men/Mo Solid Gold) and
Dirty Sounds.
http://www.artful.ik.com
I intend to be coming along with my girlfriend.
You ought to let Boing Boing know - sounds like the kind of thing
they'd be interested in (http://boingboing.net/)
is anybody coming along to the barfly one? the idea of artful is that
it's a story that can't be told until halloween is over because it
doesn't exist yet, but it's basically once upon another time a load of
friends and strangers got together in peace and rocked because there
were five weekends in the month!
we've got various photographers, film makers, writers, people with
dictaphones etc (and anybody that wants to join in) and each day of
october is a chapter. some of it will be added to the digital sneakers
underground rock documentary (they did metro riots, corporation:blend,
lupen crook and the bridge gang on the artful launch gig last month).
i'm hoping that we can show some s*m*a*s*h videos and photo slide shows
and stuff as part of their chapter. got a well colourful bill together
for that night, it's gonna be a SHOW!
excited of deptford! x

Indigo vs Kiss My Haç
Star & Garter, Fairfield Street, Mcr
Friday 15th July 2005
9pm – 2:30am
£5 / £3 with Flyer
Featuring live performances from
S*M*A*S*H
Hooker
Beats For Beginners
Back for another double dose of bad punnage where scruffy indie
disco meets glam glitch grime fest Indigo vs Kiss My Haç return to
the Star Garter
Upstairs Indigo will be pulling off one of their favourite feats and
digging out one of those bands that you'd long forgotten about and
dragging them back onstage. This time it's the turn of S*M*A*S*H,
who back in the shiny happy days of Britpop in the mid-nineties were
leading lights on the short-lived, but pleasingly grubby New Wave Of
New Wave scene.
Not ones to be afraid of contrast, we welcome kings of the synth
Beats For Beginners to join the party. The thread running through
this line-up is a no holds barred punk ethic, but BFB take that
ethic, drag it to the disco and force it to dance.
Also joining the fray are Mcr's premier dirty punk boys and girl,
Hooker. Fresh from supporting Television, expect 2-minute, 2-chord
grrl-pop killers and some creepily telepathic almost-synchronised
rock moves from these good eggs.
Even when all that's done with it still won't be time to go home,
resident Indigo DJs M & F will carry on playing every kind of pop,
rock and noisy record they can find until we get thrown out at 2:30.
And for those who like dancing like palsy-addled robots, downstairs
all night plays host to Kic My Hac. Go crazy to the non-stop
electro / girly poppy / grimey / glitchy party excitement provided
by National Forest, Mildred Hubble and David Crayon, or sit back and
have a fit courtesy of a £25 HIRED FLASHING LIGHT SYSTEM. Or decide
all this modern boom-boom-boom rubbish isn't for you and go have a
quiet sherry by the pool table, you tiresome bore!

S*M*A*S*H are playing the upstairs at the
www.islington-academy.co.uk bar with Abdoujaparov
(Featuring Ex carter usm's fruitbat), and Ciccone
(www.ciccone.co.uk) THIS THURSAY!
Will be a blinding gig. i love all the bands playing!

Speaking of which, do you know if there are any shirts to be sold at
the recent shows ? (and how much?)

Here I am with time on my hands, and newsprints on my elbow.
Aah, I've still got my SOUL POWER t-shirt and wear it nearly every
week. I've got a lovely pic of Rob from the ANL carnival and when they
rode into Brixton playing Real Surreal it truly was one of the most
amazing things I've experienced.
Still getting great reports back from the S*M*A*S*H gigs now, some
mates who went along to the Metro were beside themselves for never
having checked them out before!

Are you torn in two when I talk to you? Because I'm torn in three
when you talk to me.
John Peel often told the story hearing 'Teenage Kicks' for the first time. He was driving in his car listening to the song on a demo tape. He was so overcome by the tune that he pulled onto the side of the road to have a cry.
There are thousands of people across Britain today who will have had a similar experience on hearing of his untimely death.
