Hello S&A,
Although the weather is beginning to turn colder, the projects of the
Saints & Angels are really heating up!
Most notably, on Monday October 13, Brittany, Becky, & Greg attended
the Merrillville, IN show and presented Sara with a charm bracelet on
behalf of all the Saints & Angels. (Subscribers to this e-newsletter
may see a photo of Sara proudly displaying her new bracelet in the
Yahoo Photos Section) This was presented along with an attractively
designed card with our logo on the front and a message from the group
inside. Now, as the members of the Saints & Angels see Sara at
future Meet & Greet's, they may present her with additional charms
for the bracelet as a way of identifying themselves with the S&A and
this project. Tim, Joe, Robert, Becky, and all others who had a hand
in this project should be recognized for their hard work in making
all of this come together. The Merrillville presentation was just
the latest of many endeavors of this "first-class Fan Club within the
Fan Club" (as Sara called us) which illustrates the solidarity and
unified vision of this nationwide community of fellow fans. This is
one of the few groups which exists both in cyberspace and in the real
world, as many on here have become lifelong friends, attending one
another's fish fries, carpooling to Sara shows, staying at each
other's homes, and in our case, even meeting their spouse within the
group.
Another recent development to come about this past month is an
addition to Sara's tour schedule due, in large part, to the
persistence of Don Lockart, a leader among the Saints & Angels in
every respect. He has persuaded Wild Adventures to book Sara in his
hometown of Valdosta, GA on February 21, 2004. Now Don is doing
everything in his power to ensure that we have the largest turnout of
Saints & Angels (particularly the original ones) to come out for
the concert & Meet & Greet. The goal is for Sara to truly be
overwhelmed with the turnout of her Saints and Angels....which will
hopefully be the largest chapter meeting we've had to date!
I know this will be quite a drive for many of you (as it will be 12
hours for Jon, Tiffany & me), but I really think this has the makings
of the most memorable gathering to date. After the show, Don is
tentatively planning to have an informal gathering at his church's
fellowship hall with a small buffet of finger foods, sandwich trays,
chicken fingers, some fruit and veggie trays and, of course, some
desserts. If you think you may be able to attend, let Don know soon
(donlockart@...), and also be sure to request a Meet & Greet
from Kaelin. Although the show is not until next February, and
tickets don't go on sale for a while, it's best to act soon since
this date is filling up with Saints & Angels so fast!
In closing, let me welcome our new members to this group. At the
time of writing this, we have 51 members, and we're also seeing lots
of new "faces" in our Sunday Night Chat sessions, including Craig
Dunn, the webmaster of Sara's Official Site. I hope everyone feels
welcome here.
As always, be sure to check out the News section of Sara-Online.Net
for this month's scoops, including pertinent links to related stories
and blurbs of past stories you may have missed, stored for safe-
keeping in the archives. In November, look for more additions to the
site, in particular the Video Stills page, as I now have stills from
all videos on disk, and need only to edit and upload them.
Finally, some of you have had problems viewing the scrolling quotes
on the main index page (bottom left under the audio welcome message),
so here is the complete list of them. As always, I'm open to your
suggestions of any quotes which describe Sara well, or that were
spoken by an influential person.
I leave you with these quotes. See you on the concert trail!
-Chuck
"Once you hear her sing, you're hooked. She's got the voice, the
look, the personality - the whole package. She sells herself."
-Dale Turner - RCA VP
"Crystal voiced, optimistic of heart and looking like she just
breezed in from a L'Oreal photo-shoot, Sara Evans is every inch the
modern Nashville starlet."
-Peter Kane
"....a muscular soprano, sharp and clear as a new-cut diamond -- a
voice that critics rank as among the best to come along since Loretta
Lynn sang her way out of the Kentucky coal fields....a voice that
sounds like it was born inside a roadhouse jukebox."
-Harry Esteve - The Oregonian
"She has a voice to die for. Millions of people can sing, but not
many of them call tell you how they feel. It is what separates the
contenders from the pretenders. A singer of true depth, Sara
communicates far more in a subtle turn of phrase than with a show-
boasting shriek."
-Alan Cackett - Country Music International
"She was born to do this."
-Pete Anderson, Producer of Three Chords & the Truth
"Thank God for Martina McBride and Sara Evans - two female country
artists who continue to make great music and project an image country
listeners can relate to."
-Frank Bell of Keymarket Communications VP/programming
"If there's any such thing as a perfect career in Nashville, Sara
Evans has had it."
-Mark Brown, Denver Rocky Mountain News
"Sara Evans is so good she's scary ... A preserver of the best of
country's history and a progressive writer and singer forging a
timeless contemporary sound, she invites favorable comparisons to the
best country divas."
-Billboard
"You could attribute the success of Pam Tillis to her family genes
and Shania Twain's to her tight-fitting jeans, but for Sara Evans it
is the genius present in her voice. Hers may be the purest country
voice to hit Nashville, or anywhere else, for a long time."
-Donn Jehs
"The girl can sing; she's got that perfect blend of smoke and syrup
in her vocals, and her songs run barefoot through the bluegrass."
-New York Times
"You've got to listen to this. This is something you can't deny.
This is my year. This is my time. I've got the voice for it. I've
got the album for it. So, here it is."
-Sara Evans
