Sarah Mclachlan, Sunday August 1
The Hartford Civic Center is located in the center of the CBD area
of Hartford CT, capacity 16,000. It's currently being renovated so
from the outside it looked a little like a bomb at hit it - i
wondered what Sarah might have made of it whwen the band arrived
earlier in th day..

Doors opened at 6:30pm and we wondered in found our seats...the show
was fairly well sold but not completely...I'd describe it as a
comfortably sold show.

7:30pm and after a short video promoting her new single) out came a
good opening act for Sarah, BUTTERFLY BOUCHER. Butterfly is her real
name ( as she was at pains advise during the bands set. Hailing From
Australia she exhibits a good pop/rock sound that will serve her
well. Songs like "Life is short" (which BTW) is the theme for the
ABC drama "The Days" and the current single that's finding it's way
across US radio, "Another White Dash". She gave her all for the 35
minute set and her band backed her well. The album is
called "Flutterby". If ya wanna check it out her wbsite is.

http://www.butterflyboucher.com.

8:30 came and the lights went down quickly and the curtains that
covered the stage went up and Sarah & band were there centre
stage... "Fallen" started proceedings. The bnad played 3 opening
songs before Sarah spoke, firstly apolosing for the long delay
between appearances here & telling all that tonight she wanted to
play some of her favourites....and that she did, covering the next 2
hours with faves from her back catalogue - from there it became a
blur of songs -"Adia", "Witness", "BAM", "Hold On" "Angel", "I will
remember you" were amongst there...the set covered the same
territory as the '97 Mirrorball tour with the new "Afterglow"
material thrown in.

Sarah seemed to have lost a little of the range for the high notes
but she got there when she needed to, and the band had revamped the
flow of the songs but they did it in such a way that it didn't
affect things to much...

Sarah encored twice, the first encore being her contribution to
the "I am Sam" film, the Beatles cover "Blackbird" and of course the
obligatory crowd sing along "Ice Cream".

all in all a great show...the band now have a week off before the
tour resumes with a New Jersey concert and 2 ABC appearances: "Good
Morning America" 8/9 & Regis & Kelly 8/10/04.

I hope you enjoyed the read of this as much as I did the show!!
