Don't feel bad. When blogs were fairly new, I found at leat a half
dozen definitions of what a blog was and still didn't know.
But, in plain terms ... a Blog is just a journal. When people want
to say something that others might want to read, they create a blog.
It can be done on a website or at other places. I know one person
who is a real political and social activist and adds to his Blog
(which is on his web site) often, giving opinions, calls for action,
and, news from around the world on selected subjects.
If you are a member of MySpace.com (a free meeting & networking
site), you can create your own Blog, or reads the Blogs of other
people. A lady I knew there is always writing, complaining about
her job, her social life and other things. I suppose the Blog gives
her a way to get things off her mind.
Plus, people reply to Blogs with their own comments. So, if you read
one, you can reply with your opinion .... be it pro or anti what the
person wrote.
Then, many companies have Blogs on their sites where they dispense
info about their products and services. All in all, basically a
journal, a collection of thoughts, a source of information.
Don't know it this totally explains things and answers your question,
but it should help.
I mentioned MySpace. In case anyone is interested, the URL for my
page there is:
