Hey Back at You, Werdna,
That is a very cool site. I wonder if any of the sheet music is available for
copying. I play the trumpet and have enjoyed playing along with Louis since I
was a kid. In fact when the band director came into my classroom in 4th grade
and asked who wanted to learn an instrument I was the 1st one to get my hand
up. I knew what instrument I wanted to play,... trumpet. I have bought every
bit of Louis Armstrong sheet music I can get my hands on. I'll bet there are
some really fine songs in the archives at Queens.
Take Care,
Mick

Hey there people,
I am going to see if I can liven this place up a bit. A think a good
topic of discussion would be good. I was reading the Society of
American Archivists' journal and was amazed that the featured article
of the journal was detailing the Louis Armstrong Archives, which is a
part of the Louis Armstrong Museum in Queens, NY. Louie was an avid
fan of recording everyday conversations, from impressive stories to
mundane conversations, that occurred both in his house and while on
the road after concerts. He also was a big fan of photo collages, and
made individualized photo collage covers for each of these recordings.
Read that article from start to finish and was captivated with their
efforts to catalog this collection. That would be my dream job! The link to the
website is here http://satchmo. net/thearchives/ louis.shtml
