Singer lends voice to diabetes campaign

By Lolly Bowean

November 10 2007
Neo-soul songstress Angie Stone is best known for her rich, sultry voice and her
music chronicling the ups and downs of love and relationships.

A singer named Paul Reischmann recorded St. Louis Blues with his Jazz
Babies in Austria of all places in the 1930's.In the first part of his
vocal he sings it in Louis Armstrong's style then abruptly switches to
a hi-de-ho Cab Calloway style call and response-him singing then
orchestra members responding.I think it is unusual for a singer to
imitate the singing style of Louis and then Cab on the same recording.
Also there is some very nice playing by the drummer using brushes.
You just have to hear this recording. This Paul Reischmann does one of
the wildest jazz vocals i have heard on record. Here is a link to the
recording at redhotjazz site:

MARSTON - The bagpipe and the harp are two instruments that seem like they
shouldn't go together.
One is husky, producing brutish drones. The other is blithe and light, sweetly
high pitched.
