AHHH!!! Elisa! Could you email it to me as well? I love that song sooo much!!! .
Funny you both should write. I just saw my first hour of Jamie's Great Italian Escape and I am sooo happy!!! What a wonderful series! Glad to see him get away from all the bother of the paparazzi and have some nice time with Jools too. I'm wondering though (for any of the SD folks), why he didn't take his mentor Genarro with him?
I'm here in the states so we are always way behind on shows like this, so I'm just grateful the Travel Channel is airing it.
Anyway, happy singing and cooking!!! :D
Cheers!

Hi there!
I would like to know if can anybody send me this song... I've already
search in many places but infortunetly I didn't found it.
Please, send it to me!
Thanks for the attention!
;)
See ya!
Hey Leigh/Everybody,
Sounds like you have been busy mate. That sound effects library sounds
like an awesome idea, I have always wanted to do something like that
for using in theare here.
I'm really enjoying watching "Jamie's Kitchen Australia". Cant wait to
pop down there and try the food. Work is getting pretty busy at the
moment so It will have to be in the new year. (That's if I can book :))
I graduated today, full robes and everything. It was great fun.
Thats awesome news about Louise. I haven't spoken to her in ages, used
to have her email but can't find it anymore. Give my best to her and
the family. Last thing I remember, she was starting a collectable coin
store or something...hehe.
Sorry I haven't been as vocal on the boards these past months, work is
eating away at a lot of my time, which isn't a problem it just means I
don't get to do as much of the other fun things :)
It's great to see the regulars are still here though.
Talk to you later mate/everybody.
Nick.
Congrats on most fronts Christy!!!! Don't be discouraged. Perhaps you are supposed to be (study) somewhere else right now. I have faith you will succeed, though, so hang tough, you!!!
Cheers,
Michele

Hi Leslie - I'm fine thanks, good to hear from you. I've been busy
with all kinds of music stuff this year. Scoring orchestral music to
picture for a BBC natural history unit project. writing music for
various TV shows (and pitching for lots that never got off the
ground). And developing a sound effects library which has been
really interesting. I was on a 1.5 mile high mountain in the
Austrian Alps recently, recording the wind (and discovering
vertigo!). I haven't seen much of Jamie this year, he's busier than
ever these days and I've moved to Esher in Surrey, so i'm not near
him geographically any more. We still catch up on the phone and get
together occasionally which is always fun. How are things with you?
Good I hope.
Leigh
ps - Hey Michele, yes that was an official email. I got the same
thing and thought it seemed rather dodgey, but it's to do with the
recent overhaul of Jamie's website. I hope you're ok

Gee, nice of you to include us over here in America!!!! (just kidding)! Thanks for the update. Congrats to sweet-voiced Louise on her new baby!!!! It's so funny how things change when Life goes on, huh??? I'm about to lose any hope of ever seeing Jamie here or hearing one of SD's theme songs on a new Jamie show.
Please pass on my best to your mates and to Jamie and Jools and the families as well. I'm still clinging to my 4 Britcoms (WHICH I just watched - *sigh* - my Saturday nights are so anticipated and go sooo fast TV-wise). Nigella Lawson debuts on Food Network soon. Bah! Humbug!
It's great to hear from you. How are YOU? What are you doing these days? You didn't say...
I just got around to watching Jamie's School Dinners (which I'd recorded months ago) and it was
SHOCKING. Completely shocking. So I'm thrilled that he's carrying on with it. It was good to see what felt like a more "real" side of Jamie than just him showing recipes (as much as I liked that from his previous programs we've seen in the US) and I really felt like he cares enormously about this issue and the health and welfare of school children. Good on him. I know he's probably taking all kinds of crap from parents who don't want to hear their children whine or have to be bothered to pack a (horrible) lunch if their children won't eat the healthy options, but it seems like maybe he's at a point where he isn't willing to just shut up about it and I applaud that. A similar effort is being undertaken here by Chris Kimball of Cook's Illustrated magazine, and I hope it takes off.
It's been a while since I updated you with the inside goss so here goes....
As some of you may know, Jamie Oliver has just opened the 4th "Fifteen restaurant" in Melbourne, Australia. He has been in the country for a while now and just finished a live show in Sydney and Melbourne which went down a storm (see video clips by visiting You Tube and searching Jamie Oliver). He decided to use the song I wrote for him a while back called Fish Stew which was re-worked slightly and
ended up being the finale. This version is available to download for a limited time.
The final night of the Australian live show was filmed by Network Ten in Australia, and may appear on DVD at some point.
Jamie has been busy filming lots of new TV shows this year. Firstly there was a follow-up programme to Jamie's School dinners. This went out in the UK on Monday just gone and has caused quite a stir in the UK. Some parents are passing fast food, chips and fizzy drinks etc, through school fences as a protest to the healthy eating options that are now mandatory in UK schools. Jamie kicks off about it in the programme and also presses Tony Blair on why not enough is being done - despite his promises. Good on Jamie I say.
He's also been making a large-scale programme similar to Oliver's Twist that will debuting on international TV soon. He drives around the UK cooking local food. Then there's a follow-up
to Jamie's kitchen where he gives one of the original 15 students a chance to own their own restaurant. They have to prove themselves over the series and it should make for very interesting TV.
Scarlet Division is still on the back burner. Louise (singer) gave birth to a little boy in July. Everyone is doing their own thing these days. We still get together occasionally, but it's hard to keep a band together when everyone's so busy.

I went to the matinee show on the final day of his tour in Melbourne, which was the show that was meant to be taped for TV. But I think because they had some problems with the microphones, they must have scrapped that idea and filmed the evening show instead...*sigh*

Both of you make great sense!!! Jamie can be very proud if what he did started a food revolution in our schools in the US, too. I was just mad because Food Network was acting like it was THEIR idea, and I knew FULL WELL that Jamie had been the pioneer. Hopefully, Chris, you will begin to help change the way things are as well!!! Much luck to you! And enjoy Disney World! :)

My husband is
English, so he related to a lot of what we saw on Jamie's school dinner program, and we know that's what's in the schools here, or worse. We've made the decision to homeschool for a number of reasons, but I have to say that even if we hadn't, we'd be sending our son to Kindergarten this fall with a lunchbox with real food in it. We don't eat a lot of organic or anything like that (some things, but not everything) but there's just no substitute for REAL food, and it's cheaper than the processed crap, folks are just lazy.
Everyone needs to get involved to make things change, so while I would rather see Jamie do the work and get the credit, I'll get behind what's-his-name's efforts towards getting better food for US schoolchildren, even if they won't be MY children. Too many parents don't take the time to make their kids lunches and just trust them to the school, and we need the schools to do better.
The school dinners in the states suck in a major way. We are facing the exact same problem here as Jamie did over in England and that is price. Let all face the fact that it is going to take a major scare or us cooks and parents to go out and force the schools to take a different look at the food that is being severed to our children. What have I done to help prepare for this… I went
and got a job as a food service worker in my local cities public school. As I was watching the Jamie's School Dinner episodes I was like umm yea we do that too and we do that.
After some time in the system about two months in, I started to tell them how bad the food sucked. Yes, I told this to the managers, the Supervisors, the one in charge of training managers, and even the top dog the Superintendent of Food Services. They were like it takes more time to cook real food (as that how it was when I went to their schools) and they also said it took more people which cost money and they are already spending 23 million a year. Yea, they are real big on it cost 23 million a year.
So as of now I have been with
them a year, have my Food Service Managers Certification the city requires, and have completed my Managers Training. I am off to Disney for a few months and then I told them I was coming back and I am applying for a Managers position. Like Jamie says we have to start early and getting into an elementary school sounds like an idea to get started with in my area. The main drive behind this is to show them that kids will eat more than the chicken nuggets and Pizza Hut pizza. Yes, the kids here get pizza 3 out of 5 days, hamburgers and chicken patties 5 of 5 days, aww the food is just horrible.
Well, that's very, very true. As someone who has no kids, I was just being selfish about my boy (which is what I call Jamie around the house ...). Hopefully, what's-his-name will acknowledge that Jamie started this in the UK but don't hold your breath, eh?
They did steal the idea, and hopefully someone will give Jamie the nod for the inspiration during one of the episodes...BUT...the larger picture is that if we can actually do something about school meals here
in the US like Jamie has done in the UK, it will well be worth it. And I bet you anything Jamie would say the same thing!
Ouch. Forgot about that ... Guess I should apply that to the other stations as well ... Thanks for the reality check. But still, they stole the idea ...
I've seen the school lunch shows, and have a feeling I know why Food Network won't show them here. When you remove the bad language, the shows would only be 10 minutes long. I'm no prude, but I've never heard such a concentration of bad language, even when I worked on the farm….
Just saw on the wire that the Food Network's Dave Lieberman is "exploring school food reform!!!!" What A CROCK!!! They can't show JAMIE'S SHOW???????? Man, this just burns me up! The only problem is, there is no other network I get that I can watch to continue learning how to cook or get ideas. This just sucks. And it's TOTALLY a stolen idea! He WISHES he was Jamie. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. I even contacted my PBS station to see if THEY could show any of his shows, and they said Food Network owned the rights so they couldn't show them. If the National PBS station got the rights, or showed any of Jamie's new stuff, then we could get them, but till them I am SOL. What a bunch of CRAP!

or showed any of Jamie's new stuff, then we could get them, but till them I am
SOL. What a bunch of CRAP!

Well, that's very, very true. As someone who has no kids, I was just being selfish about my boy (which is what I call Jamie around the house ...). Hopefully, what's-his-name will acknowledge that Jamie started this in the UK but don't hold your breath, eh?

And how come the guy on hell's kitchen can act like a complete boor (and while I don't and won't watch such belligerent crap I bet HE is bleeped every now and then). I mean really. Jamie is a real person, dealing with real problems. I'd be cussing too. And I agree with you Leslie!! While I continue to catch Rachel Ray every now and then, between her, emeril, and that stooooopid American Iron Chef, I'm about Food Networked OUT.
They shouldve still seen about airing Jamie's show. Hes the only thing that really gave the food network an "edge", and theyve got to take some chances, and not just keep banking on the fact that Rachael Ray will bring in viewers (She's getting uber annoying lately, and waiting 5 hours to see her for about 10 seconds at a booksigning really isnt good PR either....)
