Okay, first off: FREE SHOW this MONDAY at Artz Rib House. And it's
me, playing!
I'm playing the break set for Sara Elizabeth Campbell & the Banned.
She starts around 7:30, and I start around 8:30. Goooood food at
Artz. I went there last Monday JUST to get me some brisket (and hear
Andrew McKnight, who folk-rocks).

Artist Development: In November & December, I had some "counseling
sessions" with Kari Estrin, who's a music-biz career consultant in
Nashville. It was very helpful as far as getting me over some of my
hangups and unproductive behaviors. Since then, I've been more
proactive about defining & pursuing my goals, and "connections" and
opportunities have been coming my way! I also had a couple important
meeting with singer-songwriter Alton Rex, who (for free!) dispensed
his wisdom on making a living, booking, forming professional
relationships, and more. He also nominated me for membership in....

I recently was "indicted" into the Austin Conspiracty of Performing
Songwriters! (http://www.austinconspiracy.com/) This is an
organization of professional, gigging musicians who help each other.
I've known most of these very experienced singer-songwriters for a few
years anyway, so it's cool to be counted worthy as one of them!

Also, I'm workin' on a new album! 10 new songs, count 'em.
Due out...mid-year, methinks.

AAAAnnnnd! I'll probably have to leave Austin this fall, 'cause my
job at UT is ending and I'll need another job. Preferably in a town
that's not too boring. And guess what?!?!?!?!?!?! Next week I have a
job interview at Belmont University in NASHVILLE!!! Would that
totally folk-rock or WHAT?!!

Oh hey! Next month, from Feb 10 to 14, is the International Folk
Alliance, and it's HERE at the Hilton in Austin this year! I'll be
playing Saturday & Sunday, as well as a special Conspiracy showcase at
the Hideout on Congress the Wednesday before. More on that later.
Thus, I won't be playing at the Satellite Cafe on Feb 11; John Wilson
will be filling in for me.
