Dear friends,
Our band gig scheduled for this Friday at Two Brothers Pizza in
Bastrop, sadly, ain' gon' happen. 2BP is moving to a new location,
and as such, they are close. :-( That's a bummer, because we had a
GREAT, ROCKIN' time there.
I'm still playing solo on May 13 from 8 to 9pm, at the Satellite Cafe.
Last time I actually did an instrumental show using my digital
looping unit! That was fun. (My Lowden guitar was in the shop, so I
was playin El Stratocaster, and felt the need to sup' it up somehow.)
This time around, I'll try to do both instrumental and songs, as usual.
The band boys (Kevin & Mark) and I had a great practice tonight.
We're getting ready to go into the studio to record 5 new songs (well,
5 or so). It's a blast. I'm actually planning not to release "the
full album" until December; I plan to take the tracks we record and
edit & mix them on my own at home in Nashville this fall, gleaning
what I can about CD-making and marketing from fellow Belmont
University folks all the while!
BUT! With that said, we'll have some band shows before I go. TBA. At
least some kind of going-away-concert. ...Gosh we're fun to listen to.
See, I recently realized: I'm not a folk singer. I'm just NOT. (You
probably new this already.) I try to be, but...recently it's just
become clear. (Saw the Bob Dylan documentary, didn't get into any folk
festivals,...and stuff.) And it's a bit sad; I'm actually grieving
over the non-folk-singer-ness going on. But hey, I like what I do, and
it seems you do to! So thanks! All this means I can actually have
more confidence, doing-what-I-do, and not trying to be something I'm
not. (Don't worry, I'm not ditching the acoustic guitar.)
Okay, so let me know how you're doing.
Cheerio,
Scott
