Hello everyone at SeattleX!
I'm new to SeattleX and to yahoo groups in general, but I look forward
to getting to know everyone here! Hope you all are surviving this snow
storm. Those of you who have garage spots for your cars, count
yourselves lucky!
To introduce myself, my name is Kara McGraw. I'm a young composer and
Seattle resident. I have a formal music training, and I write chamber
music, folk/pop music, and more. My current project is to compose the
music and script of a new musical. It's been fun and challenging - a
real growing experience! Pop me an email if you're interested in
learning more or getting involved in any way: mcgraw.kara@...
Despite not knowing me well, I'm hoping some of you will take interest
in another project of mine (and what may be the greatest success thus
far in my humble life) -- a performance hosted by the Seattle Chamber
Music Society at Benaroya Hall. It's a family concert, so it's going
to be very fun and appropriate for all ages!
Date: Saturday, January 24, 2009
Time: 3:00 PM - 4:00 PM
Location: Benaroya Hall - Nordstrom Recital Hall, 200 University St.,
Seattle, WA
Here is the Seattle Chamber Music Society's formal description of my
piece:
"This Celtic tale of faery mischief, romance and enchantment has been
charmingly captured in new music by composer Kara McGraw. With the
help of four Seattle musicians (flute, cello, percussion and piano),
KING FM's Marta Zekan tells the story of Tam Lin, a mortal turned into
an elfin knight, the fair young maiden Janet who ventures into an
enchanted woods, an army of fairy folk, the Elf Queen and her evil
spells, and Janet's rescue of Tam Lin through her love...."
Tickets to the show are only $8. If you're interested, you can buy
them here:

Pop me an email if you plan to come. I'd love to meet you!
Wishing you all a very warm, safe, and happy holiday season!
