October 6, 2007 KALX setlist - Remembering the Party   Message List
Reply | Forward Message #429 of 527 |

Below is the setlist for my KALX radio show this past week.

I had the extreme pleasure of having DJ/Producer extraordinaire Jerry Bonham ,
and Richard & Chris from White Light Productions come on to discuss
"Remember The Party" ! It was one of the funnest interviews I've had, and it
was so neat to be able to get to know and bond with the guys behind a party I
was really feeling! We never met beforehand, and only exchanged a coupla
emails before the show, so they didn't know what they were in for! :)
It was AWESOME! They walked in as I was playing Mass Production's
"Cosmic Lust" and from the word go they knew I wasn't just some
schmuck...I'm a schmuck who knows his disco DEEEEP! And thanks to my
buddy Dang for helping out behind the scenes. Unfortunately, due to
technical difficulties only the first 42 minutes were recorded. :(

This, of course, made the party the next night all the more enjoyable! I went to
Remember The Party last year based on a couple of mixes my friend Thommy in
SoCal sent my way. It was fun!! RTP is the awesomest, gayest, Paradise Garage-est
party at the ex-Trocadero Transfer (now Glas Kat). This year, the party was also a
commemoration of the 30th Anniversary of the opening of the Troc, so it was
all the more festive! Also, Mayor Gavin Newsom proclaimed that Sunday
October 7th 2007 is officially Remember The Party Day! Audrey Joseph
presented the White Light Productions gang and the Glas Kat folks with the
official proclamation. How cool is that?!

The party started at 6, and I got in at 6:30 (the line was held up 'cause they
frisk you SUPER-thurough there!) and from start to finish the music was
on point! I left at 2:30 but wished I coulda stayed 'til the journey ended
at 3:30, but could not miss work the next day. :( I was dancing for 8 straight
hours, save for when I was getting up to no good, and LOVED it! Check
out the setlist HERE  and make Keefe  your friend, so you don't miss
out on future White Light Productions parties! My new song of the week?
Kasso's "Walkman"!! How cheesy sleazy fun! The party was amazing. Smoke,
roughly 10 entwined mirror balls, huge lights with gels shining off the balls
and representing & reflecting different emotions, in coordination with the
music (red = love, white filling the room with light and you can see
everybody dancing and spinning and feeling the vibe), popping into
the DJ booth once in a while to geek out with Jerry about tracks he played
(how did he know I was FEELING Cerrone's "Give Me Love" this week?).
Everything was amazing and well thought out. What a party, what a club,
what an event should ALWAYS be. These guys plan for this shit ALL YEAR!

Check out a short video of Sunday HERE !

I also had the pleasure of meeting the other guys behind the magic, including
Keefe, Robert and many more. I met Lary Sanders , Sandpiper DJ and
San Francisco resident, who does wicked re-edits of classic and rare tracks,
and is very giving in children's charities. I knew of him again through my
friend Thommy, who told me to say hey to Lary, and from the word go he
was a very open & friendly person. Also ran into the cool Michael & Greg
from the awesome Medium Rare Records ! I haven't been there for the
longest time, and Michaels calls out my name like it was only yesterday.
How cool!! Frankly, everyone I ran into was so nice and there for a fun
time, and not pretentious. Love to find that out in the clubz!

I was also lucky to find an AMAZING and hot hot lady there. Meeting a
(straight) lady at RTP is the ultimate example of a needle in a haystack. She
was at least 50 but she must have frozen herself, or made a deal with the
devil, 'cause she looked as young as me in every way and was totally my
type! She frequented the Troc back in the day and was up from NY to
remember the party! She moved there back in the day since she was a designer
and boy did she have style. Nothing's hotter than a woman who knows
how to dress and, as much as I love SF, NY girls know how to dress the
best. Awesome style, awesome dancer. And when you're in a club full of
shirtless men, men in sailor suits, chaps and all, you feel like getting wild.
And things got SCANDALOUS!! Nothing beats having a leather daddy tell you to
'take it outside'!! HAHAAHAHA! FIERTH! The next day she hopped a flight
back home, but gotta love that dancefloor ships-in-the-night energy. The
only thing I regret is NOT talking about disco, 'cause she knew her shit and
fun convos about music are always, well, fun!

If you missed the show, listen to it as M3U  OR MP3  as well as other past
shows and mixes, by going to http://www.sergioaudio.com

I'm on the air next Saturday Oct 13, 3p-4p, preceding football.

This week...THE 70s! Uh oh! Disco time!
