Happy New Year, my friends! It's my hope that this year will bring much-needed change & hope to the country & your lives. I'm looking forward to January 20, and a new President!

Change is also happening in my world.  Let's see:

-A new Happy Hour Wednesdays at Triple Crown later this month with the lovely Alona! Thanks for coming to our prior Happy Hour - this one'll be EVEN BETTER!

-I'm phasing out my MySpace page. No more of that Fox-controlled, Conservative Right, Yes on 8 MySpace for me! Now I'm off to the feature-rich, user-friendly Facebook! Make me your friend! I KNOW, it seems like a lot of information and it is, but I spent a weekend adjusting the settings and once you get it to your liking, it really is much better than clunky MySpace.

-Soon I'll be setting up a blog and revamping my Website & bio...so look out!

-But especially exciting me & my friend's upcoming Go BANG! party!

So any local DJ friends want to make some easy money & help the patrons of my favorite spot, Cafe Flore , ring in the new year with dance music - Top40/pop/party jams? 11p-1/2am on NYE. WOW! What a fun time I had last weekend! Friday I DJed at Cafe Flore, which was hosting the Harvey Milk Democratic Club's Holiday Party! Then I jetted to catch Bobitto at Pink. He was a'ight - he could have mixed more enthusiastically - but I did have the pleasure of running into many friends, including the elusive and awesome Mauricio Aviles, who I hadn't seen in like a year. Saturday I had a blast at the taping of my friend's Dance Party Revival  show, attended a holiday party with my best bud Scott

 

and raced with my fancy X-Mas threads to the seedy Deco for the TIGHT Ferrari monthly party! Finally Sunday I hit the HNYSNDSYSTM weekly! Check out pics from the weekend in my "Why I Love S.F." album! Also Sunday was a 'family reunion' of LA's Funkmosphere crew coming up to chill with SF's Sweater Funk posse! Aw...well, here we are. The glorious season of Turkey Day! Where you get together and eat tons, and maybe you get fed for the rest of the week with leftovers. Oh, yeah, and there's the thanking thing that people do!

Each year gets better & better and things get more & more awesome, and it's in no small part thanks to all my listener & DJ friends! Thanks for supporting me on KALX these 12ish years, and for being with me from the start of when I started working the bars & clubs. Boy, have some of you been through my worst of times & best of times, and I couldn't have done it without you all.

Since this is a short week, and it was a LONG fun weekend, I will be sending out my beefed up Sweater Funk/West Add Radio/KALX setlists & Mp3s after the long weekend! So hold tight. Come say hi this week at Otis today for Happy Hour, and Cafe Flore Friday 10p-2a.

What a weekend!

I had a great Halloween @ Cafe Flore! Check out some incriminating evidence here and listen to the mix below! The next night I was in a bit of a funk but still played a fun little party at El Rincon, then went by Pink to say hi to my buddy Hakobo, then ended up at The Underground for the always-great Gemini Disco  party (1st Saturdays!) where I met with friends and exorcised a few demons on the dancefloor. And Sunday I heard DJ Teeko from local live hip-hop crew 4OneFunk  DESTROY the decks at Sweater Funk! And I can't forget DJ Guillermo who always lays down some amazing stuff, and the sweetest new member of Sweater Funk - ShredOne - started her set with Aretha's "Jump To It" and kept it going from there! THIS WEEKEND (especially SUNDAY) will be equally great! Check it!

I'm gonna leave work early today to go shopping at Rooky Ricardo's too! I am packing some HEAT for this Sunday to blow your ass away! Show up! Aside from me, DJ B.Cause  from 4OneFunk will be coming to blow up the decks! I've heard and totally dig B.Cause's turntablism &selectoring skillz. He is such a great DJ you don't realize that he's working ALL THE TIME during his sets, to make them so seamless & smooth that you don't realize how much he has done! But first...well, wow! What a weekend!

It pretty much started Thursday with an impromptu party I DJed at for my friend Monistat's BIRTHDAY!!!



Drag shows, fierce dancing, Natureboy & disco balls! I had a FUUUUN set thanks to a fun mixing set-up and my great friends dancing up a storm. Incriminating evidence is here! Unfortunately, a picture with me & my special Hannah Montana shirt was never taken.

Then Saturday was the fun day! The boys from Remember The Party came on! Check out all the pictoral details ova here! The White Light Productions contingency came out! Carla the Arc Lamp diva come on, the great Keefe , and Richard & Chris! They also brought Barry Pett and Matt, filming an upcoming documentary called "Hot To Troc"! (Barry - thanks for the CD, can you send me the track names?! :)) Oh, and after a year apart, the big reunion of me & DJ Jerry Bonham!

 

It was a great time! You MUST here the show! And, of course, the next night Remember The Red party was AWESOME! If anyone has pictures of me from the party, gimmegimme. And if anyone has incriminating pictures of me from the party...that was not me!

Gotta love SF! I can't rest, but no rest for the wicked! Last Friday I have a fun little set at Cafe Flore! Check out the setlist below! I then got a chance to get Linda Clifford to sign my favorite of her albums on Saturday! I was so exhausted from being up late DJing the night before - and being awakened by the neighbors' awkward Saturday morning sex - that all I did was babble at Linda & the Medium Rare boys...and stare at her breasts. What a jerk... She was so cool! Then I had a day off of my KALX show Saturday and got to enjoy that 'day with my bff Scott! Sunday was as great as I expected - had a fun WAR show (setlist below) and rocked Sweaterfunk with a short but fun set! It's so easy to do when you're so psyched about a party! And it's cool when your peers give you props. And neat to meet fellow heads! And the other DJs made the night go off proper - I stayed far too late and drank far too much!

I decided to go back to my roots for most of the show - presenting some of the songs I first started club DJing with, or that have stayed with me for all this time! I've been a radio DJ on KALX since 1996, but didn't leave my bedroom and venture to the clubs until 2000 - this was also when i met my now-ex and had my last really intense relationship. We experienced lotsa 'firsts' together, including the love of house music - we'd geek out to music together, trainspotting songs from our favorite DJs and I'd get a kick out of sleuthing and finding that song so we could play with it. I met her as I was learning to be a DJ, and I taught her how to become one as time went on. So lots of these have sentimental value, bring out emotions in me, and I hope you enjoy them. Along with these older tracks are other songs that I've been geeking out to, including a song from the first release on DJ Cole Medina's House Arrest label ("Bufallo Bill"). He has become a great friend in the past years, and even has hooked me up with a remix of "Magic" only I and Tom Moulton have for now. Wow! Also, lotsa cool tracks from local producers & friends.

That's a real shame because Tokyo Component came on this week and was so AWESOME! Not only has he been on the show enough that he's an old hand with the board, and just sauntered in and starting laying & mixing the jammies with ease - making it easily his most fun & diverse mix on my show thusfar - BUT he was also super excited to come on the show to do it! He played a Manzel track he remembers me playing (and I havent played it since '03)! And he played an awesome less-known Change song. Anyways, he's tight.
