Happy New Year, my friends! It's my hope that this year will bring much-needed change & hope to the country & your lives. I'm looking forward to January 20, and a new President!
Change is also happening in my world. Let's see:
-A new Happy Hour Wednesdays at Triple Crown later this month with the lovely Alona! Thanks for coming to our prior Happy Hour - this one'll be EVEN BETTER!
-I'm phasing out my MySpace page. No more of that Fox-controlled, Conservative Right, Yes on 8 MySpace for me! Now I'm off to the feature-rich, user-friendly Facebook! Make me your friend! I KNOW, it seems like a lot of information and it is, but I spent a weekend adjusting the settings and once you get it to your liking, it really is much better than clunky MySpace.
-Soon I'll be setting up a blog and revamping my Website & bio...so look out!
-But especially exciting me & my friend's upcoming Go BANG! party! For more details, mixes from the last party, pictures from the last party, and more, make Go BANG! your friend on MySpace BUT ESPECIALLY ON FaceBook!
San Francisco has a diverse disco scene that often crosses over but not often enough! The goal of Go BANG! is to bring the crews and their devoted dancers together in a mixed, diverse, exciting environment, with a nod to the diversity and freedom of the 70's/80's New York/Chicago/San Francisco disco nightlife!
OK! Awesome! Please come! We want to make this party a success for YOU!
So gigs & parties this week:

Speaking of Sunday, every Sunday @ Paradise Lounge is the gaytastic HNYSNDSYSTM party I like to go to. Awesome tunes! Then I like to take my diva dance to my crew's Sweaterfunk party at LiPo Lounge. Last week was awesome, with Renmin VinylRichie & Proof bringing fire. AND cute girls came too! Yesssss! This week, Juergen from Jazzanova may do a guest appearance at Sweaterfunk! Invite your female friends! I'll be going after my monthly West Add Radio show!
Oh, yeah, NYE! Here are some parties of note, which you will enjoy depending on what style you're in the mood for!
Below is the setlist for my December 20 KALX show with the amazing BT Magnum of the awesome Beat Electric blog & party crew! It was my first time meeting him, actually, and he is one of the cooler guys I've met in a while in the scene, and it was a pleasure to not just hang out but also trainspot his vinyl treasures! Be sure to listen, and be sure to go to his NYE party at Paradise Lounge, and especially to the Beat Electric parties! You won't regret it.
If you missed the show, listen to it HERE MP3 OR M3U as well as other past shows and mixes, by going to http://www.sergioaudio.com

WOW! What a fun time I had last weekend! Friday I DJed at Cafe Flore, which was hosting the Harvey Milk Democratic Club's Holiday Party! Then I jetted to catch Bobitto at Pink. He was a'ight - he could have mixed more enthusiastically - but I did have the pleasure of running into many friends, including the elusive and awesome Mauricio Aviles, who I hadn't seen in like a year. Saturday I had a blast at the taping of my friend's Dance Party Revival show, attended a holiday party with my best bud Scott
and raced with my fancy X-Mas threads to the seedy Deco for the TIGHT Ferrari monthly party! Finally Sunday I hit the HNYSNDSYSTM weekly! Check out pics from the weekend in my "Why I Love S.F." album! Also Sunday was a 'family reunion' of LA's Funkmosphere crew coming up to chill with SF's Sweater Funk posse! It was great to hear & meet new family members! Check out pics HERE!
So you've heard me play the hell put of my friend Cole Medina's recent dirty disco re-edits of some classic sleazy cheesy tracks. Now you can buy a 12" containing them! DJ Cole Medina - Medina's Magic/Cole Loves Your Insides (American Standard) Check it out online, including Calsound.com You can also order/buy from: rkumar@... They are truly awesome songs!

Then come with me AFTERHOURS as I DJ at Sweater Funk's monthly "That's the One!": Soul/boogie collectors and enthusiasts come together to play late 70's to early 80's mid tempo soulful boogie and 2-step soul gems! Third Fridays 10p-2a+, 21+, FREE - Otis, 25 Maiden Lane, SF
At the last hour - 4:30-5:30 - BT LeBaron of the awesome Beat Electric crew will be coming on to lay down some jams! Now, you may know them from the treasure trove of awesome tunes they provide for FREE downloading from their blog. But you have got to check their parties out live! We're talking about disco balls, lasers, fog machines and strobe lights! And they attract a cool crowd, including a bit of an art school crowd, including oh-so-cute art school girls! Their parties make you feel the enjoyment (but a bit more innocently) of the decadent 80's disco scene! It is FUN.
But this week he'll be coming on to promote THE New Year's Eve party of the year! In the past year you've heard me talk about some great disco crews or I've played with them or I've had them on my show. On New Year's Eve they're all under one roof - along with some awesome headliners - for a full-on NYE rager! Alas, I am not playing this party but do look forward to coming in my PJs and dancing/partying/fooling around with my fellow friends/DJs/crewmates 'til they kick us out at 6!

Sunday
I am super-excited to be playing Sweater Funk! All week, I've been taking advantage of a cold I was feeling to stay locked inside pulling smelly, musty vinyl from my Argentine trip and from my voluminous record stacks. I'm gonna leave work early today to go shopping at Rooky Ricardo's too! I am packing some HEAT for this Sunday to blow your ass away! Show up! Aside from me, DJ B.Cause from 4OneFunk will be coming to blow up the decks! I've heard and totally dig B.Cause's turntablism &selectoring skillz. He is such a great DJ you don't realize that he's working ALL THE TIME during his sets, to make them so seamless & smooth that you don't realize how much he has done! He is a DJ's DJ, a dancer's DJ, and a hell of a guy! This will be a Sunday to remember!

Oh, and who still sports one of his past KALX shirts with pride, tends to flake on personal commitments, and has a fear of intimacy? This a**hole!
But first...well, wow! What a weekend!
It pretty much started Thursday with an impromptu party I DJed at for my friend Monistat's BIRTHDAY!!!
Drag shows, fierce dancing, Natureboy & disco balls! I had a FUUUUN set thanks to a fun mixing set-up and my great friends dancing up a storm. Incriminating evidence is here! Unfortunately, a picture with me & my special Hannah Montana shirt was never taken.
Then Saturday was the fun day! The boys from Remember The Party came on! Check out all the pictoral details ova here! The White Light Productions contingency came out! Carla the Arc Lamp diva come on, the great Keefe , and Richard & Chris! They also brought Barry Pett and Matt, filming an upcoming documentary called "Hot To Troc"! (Barry - thanks for the CD, can you send me the track names?! :)) Oh, and after a year apart, the big reunion of me & DJ Jerry Bonham!
It was a great time! You MUST here the show! And, of course, the next night Remember The Red party was AWESOME! If anyone has pictures of me from the party, gimmegimme. And if anyone has incriminating pictures of me from the party...that was not me!

Gotta love SF! I can't rest, but no rest for the wicked! Last Friday I have a fun little set at Cafe Flore! Check out the setlist below! I then got a chance to get Linda Clifford to sign my favorite of her albums on Saturday! I was so exhausted from being up late DJing the night before - and being awakened by the neighbors' awkward Saturday morning sex - that all I did was babble at Linda & the Medium Rare boys...and stare at her breasts. What a jerk... She was so cool! Then I had a day off of my KALX show Saturday and got to enjoy that 'day with my bff Scott! Sunday was as great as I expected - had a fun WAR show (setlist below) and rocked Sweaterfunk with a short but fun set! It's so easy to do when you're so psyched about a party! And it's cool when your peers give you props. And neat to meet fellow heads! And the other DJs made the night go off proper - I stayed far too late and drank far too much!
Give a listen to my Sunday September 28 edition of Sergio's Awesome Jammies on West Add Radio ! The SF Bay Guardian callsus the "BEST PIRATES ON THE DIAL" in this year's Best Of The Bayedition! http://www.sfbg.com/bob/2008/city.php

This is one of my favorite Awesome Jammies editions yet! I was so excited to go from here to play Sweater Funk that I packed some awesome - and for many of you, obscure - 12" and 7" boogie/funk/disco jammies, and also brought some new tracks I've been digging from blogs & such. A nice grabbag of funk in its various nasty gritty FONKY ways! Enjoy!

And NOW I have to settle down and focus on pre-vacation plans! Wee! So I may be MIA outside of my gigs until I get back from Peru/Argentina-sowwy!

I decided to go back to my roots for most of the show - presenting some of the songs I first started club DJing with, or that have stayed with me for all this time! I've been a radio DJ on KALX since 1996, but didn't leave my bedroom and venture to the clubs until 2000 - this was also when i met my now-ex and had my last really intense relationship. We experienced lotsa 'firsts' together, including the love of house music - we'd geek out to music together, trainspotting songs from our favorite DJs and I'd get a kick out of sleuthing and finding that song so we could play with it. I met her as I was learning to be a DJ, and I taught her how to become one as time went on. So lots of these have sentimental value, bring out emotions in me, and I hope you enjoy them. Along with these older tracks are other songs that I've been geeking out to, including a song from the first release on DJ Cole Medina's House Arrest label ("Bufallo Bill"). He has become a great friend in the past years, and even has hooked me up with a remix of "Magic" only I and Tom Moulton have for now. Wow! Also, lotsa cool tracks from local producers & friends.
Chaka Khan "Every Little Thing (Barna Soundmachine Edit)"
Chuck Brown & Rare Essence "Umm Umm Good"
Dan Hartman & Loleatte Holloway "Vertigo/Relight My Fire" (1979)

AND A LOOK AT THE WEEK AHEAD...
EVERY WEDNESDAY!
THIS THURSDAY! AUGUST 21! SUPPORTSUPPORTSUPPORT! If you're gonna show da love at one party of mine a month, THIS is the one!
If you are reading this the day I'm writing it, then you know to come down to Otis - 25 Maiden Lane at Kearny - today and every Wednesday 5:30p-9p+! Starring myself, Alona & YOU!
My frequent cohort Alona also has a show there, as do a number of great local DJs! And the SF Bay Guardian calls us the "BEST PIRATES ON THE DIAL" in this year's Best Of The Bay edition! http://www.sfbg.com/bob/2008/city.php
But it is pirate radio - underground & supported by dues from members and from FUNDRAISERS like this one TOMORROW!
I won't be DJing at it tomorrow, but will be showing my support the funnest way possible - drinking and dancing! Come do it with me! Dance, I mean. Holla if I should be expecting the honor of your presence on the dancefloor!
anywho...
What does a handsome yet socially inept local DJ do on a Sunday
evening, after a long weekend of DJing shenanigans? Why, absolutely nothing! He sits on his fat ass in bed,
eats tonsa pot pastries and rolls his stoned ass outta bed to lay down
some of the favorite tracks he's been fiddling with for the past months, concocting a fresh batch of

Below is the setlist for my July 26 KALX show
Due to technical difficulties, it didn't get recorded!
That's a real shame because Tokyo Component came on this week and was so AWESOME! Not only has he been on the show enough that he's an old hand with the board, and just sauntered in and starting laying & mixing the jammies with ease - making it easily his most fun & diverse mix on my show thusfar - BUT he was also super excited to come on the show to do it! He played a Manzel track he remembers me playing (and I havent played it since '03)! And he played an awesome less-known Change song. Anyways, he's tight. Check out the 80s mix he did last time he was on http://launch.groups.yahoo.com/group/sergioaudio/message/432 He even went out to brunch with me & homies Sunday...he did not know what he was in for! He hasn't called me back yet.
Tokyo Component came on to promote this Saturday's SOUL SLAM party with DJ Spinna playing Prince Vs. Michael Jackson songs! It's always an upbeat, amazing event. The supporting DJs are tight! AND the lounge has DJs from THEPEOPLE, an awesome soulful crew. Check out more info on it at http://sanfrancisco.going.com/soulslam
The first person to reply to me with the name of a group/artist other than Prince or MJ (and one of MJ's brothers doesn't count) gets on the glist for the show +1! Yeah! I'll reply confirming if you won. No reply, no winner. Please give me your full name!
