This Wednesday November 30, 2005, at 9:30 AM EST my weekly 30-minute broadcast called "GENRE IMPLOSION" airs on CFMU 93.3 FM (Hamilton, Ontario Canada, a Community Radio Station run by the McMaster University Student Union). If, like the majority of recipients of this note you live outside the CFMU listening area, you can find the broadcast live at 9 o'clock on Wednesdays (LIVE - not recorded: for copyright reasons there is no download or podcast link) at cfmu.mcmaster.ca (NOTE - this is one of the few websites in cyberspace that not only DOESN'T NEED "www." before it - it actually DOESN'T WORK if you add it accidentally.
The show is a presentation of diverse musical material, properties and ideas that cross lines of genre distinction - so be ready to listen to things you don't know... but equally, to consider what you already know (and may even like) about it.

Whether you're able to tune in or not, pay a visit to the project website at genreimplosion.ca and fill out the online survey about your experience of musical genre. While still under construction as my thesis project unfolds, genreimplosion.ca is a collecting point for various bits of my research on Musical Genre in postmodern times, and the ideas I am putting forward in the project.
