November 07, 2003 LIVE AND RARE <<ole1.bmp>> Vodafone Italia, the mobile
telecommunications company, is set to begin a special promotional campaign with
Simple Minds. Vodafone will use the current Absolutely records rerecording of
Don't You Forget about Me produced by Gerrit Martens as the background music to
their new television commercial directed by the multi award winning film
director Ridley Scott. The ads are due to run in Italy from 18th of November
until mid January. there is a possibility that other Vodafone territories could
also follow suit. Capitalising on the exposure from the heavy duty media
campaign, the Dont You record will be released as a single by Carosella/Warner
Bros simultaneously. More excitingly the campaign kicks off firstly on Monday
10th of December when exclusively Vodafone shops in Italy will make available
"Live and Rare" a new 14-track album compilation from Simple Minds. The album
will feature the rerecorded Don't You's plus various live recorded performances
from Simple Minds over the years. More of a bonus, the set will include some
previously unreleased studio recordings including, among them will be "White
Light/White Heat' and "Dirty Old Town" both of which were recorded most recently
in Glasgow prior to the current tour. Interestestingly the album will also
feature a new rerecord of Bowie's The Man who sold The World, which depending on
the results of the initial campaign reaction could also feature in future
Vodafone ads. The album sleeve features live shots during the Bonn show this
