Re: [skeeter] GHOST TOWN II

Skeeter is my all time favorite country performer. I collect her Lp's (still need a copy of "Heartstrings" Lp, Hint, Hint!!!) and Cd's. I have an autographed copy of her book, an 8x10 and a Christmas card she sent me. I have candid photos from Fan Fair and the Grand Ol' Opry. I once got to meet her and shake her hand.  A fellow fan sent me a copy of her funeral program and the card from the funeral home. I don't need to talk about Skeeter constantly to remember her. If I get a message from this board and it's something I have some knowledge on, I will respond. But sometimes it gets kinda sad when you post a message and NO ONE responds, it makes you wonder if it is worth it. This board or no one on it can change my love or respect for Skeeter. I would love to post something everyday, but you need more than a few folks to keep the group going, everyone needs to participate. Merry Christmas to all, Randy From Ohio.

messages pop up for Skeeter on the 30th December, so I'll endeavour
to say a few words BEFORE her birthday.

I am so pleased that my parents brought me up appreciating country
music and country artists. There are many people my age (37) who,
believe it or not, don't know who Susan Raye, Porter Wagoner, Roy
Drusky, Connie Smith, Lynn Anderson, Merle Haggard, Tammy Wynette,
Johnny Paycheck and many others are. I am proud to say that I know
them all, but especially had to privilege to knowing who Skeeter was
and actually meeting her when she came to Barbados (around 2000) for
a concert. She was allowed no visitors in her dressing room; only
officials and local entertainers, but I crept in and stood in the
shadows; I was not letting this moment pass me by. The next day, a
photo in the local newspaper showed me standing far in the
background, boy, that was a memory. I remember her saying, "Nice
waistcoat you're wearing."

I hope the world never forgets Skeeter, and that record companies
continue to re-issue her stuff. If they don't, I know that we, her
fans, will....

A merry christmas to all, especially the die-hard Skeeter fans.
