SNCL RELEASES:

narwhal - s/t 7" : london's screamy emo meisters deliver 3 tunes of
searing emotive hc, this is clearly one for those reared on closure
and portraits of past, when screaming all over your music didn't
instantly mean you sounded like orchid. it all starts here. £3

shermer / the machines will take over split 10" : both bands bring the
beard as they gruff their way through two top notch sides of melodic
hardcore / punk, playing at the rawer end of the hot water music /
small brown bike spectrum. you will grow a beard just listening to
this. aces! £4

NEW JAMS:

101, the - number 12" : mr richter returns with another full length.
indie rock possessing the edge the genre often sorely lacks these
days. not sounding exactly like superchunk or husker du but with
enough in common with both. plus at least one song that will make you
really miss christie front drive. damn fine lp. £6.50

cloak/dagger - s/t 7" : cloak/dagger throat their way through 4 songs
of rough and ready punk/hc in a black flag fashion and totally kick
arse. punx! white vinyl. £2

deep sleep - you're screwed 7" : plenty of songs (nine) on this 7"
that sounds like old descendents, and its in a punk rock rather than
pop punk fashion. straight forward, energetic and sweet as a nut. £2

86 mentality - on the loose 7" : TUFF vocals, kind of mid-paced early
80s hardcore punk. angry. £2

ergs - 3 guys, 12 eyes 7" : the summer of pop punk continues with what
i am guessing is some older material from the mighty ergs on this here
7". not as rocking production but still some happy go lucky
descendents/ramones type goodness! £2.50

haram - s/t 12" lp : intricate and rocking post-hardcore that nudges
drive like jehu knowingly in the ribs. ex-city of caterpillar. rocker.
£6.50

no idols - s/t 7" : hardcore that rages off the hook! members of the
funeral involved here, playing chaotic and over the top hardcore that
hints at later unbroken. jammed with more energy and aggression than a
bus full of 15 year olds hopped up on red bull £2.50

the grand prixx / proteens split 7" : grand prixx are melodic poppy
punk with speed and sloppiness on top. fun fun fun! the proteens do
the powerpop / ramones-ey thing and rock. £2.50

triple bypass - memories we never had 7" : more of the sloppy pop
punk, hope the sun is still shining where you are! £2.50

v/a - all the days are numbered so... cd/zine : music by tiny hawks,
fiya, soophie, reactionary 3, rainy day regatta, anton boardman,
sinaloa and others... comics & writing by al burian, travis fristoe,
nate powell and others... £5

wasted time - s/t 7" : they took care to make it look like an old
hardcore 7", and a similar amount of effort has gone into sounding in
that fashion too. said to be in a similar ballpark as poison idea, ssd
and negative fx, so that should give you an inkling as to what you're
gonna get. shouty vocals, fast, out of control hardcore punk! £2

____________

PREVIOUS UPDATE:

armalite - s/t 12" : atom sans his package and all the better for it.
this harks back more to his days in fracture. excellent, gimmick free,
melodic punk rock with geeky action patrol tinges with a touch of
kirsch. a surefire rocker. £6

bent outta shape / snuggle split 7" : snuggle belt out sloppy melodic
hc punk for folks that enjoy bands like grabass charlestons, bent
outta shape are similarily drunken and fall through a damn cool punk
rock side of their own that i am not sure who to compare to. good
though! £2.50

bloodbath and beyond - jihadcore 7" : all star lineup (paddy dillinger
4, ben snakepit, a guy from tiltwheel), the guys dish out 6 tracks of
rough and ready punk rock that is a wall of beefy guitars, and quite
drunken yelling. yes, this is quality! £2.50

lemuria / kind of like spitting split 12" - your living room is all
over me : right here lemuria deal in poppy rocking indie like sarge,

dissimilar to fred thomas. nice surprise, this is better than the last
stuff i heard by them. £5

little claw - s/t 12" lp : no holds barred, art punk / no-wave with
killer vocals. some of it fits with stuff like glass candy perhaps?
not exactly something i know much about but this is pretty cool.
lovely DIY screened covers. on ypsilanti records. £7

odd clouds - s/t 12" lp : man this is pretty wacked out, noise / folk,
i guess that people who enjoy wooden wand and the vanishing voice
would be into this! on ypsilanti records. £7

____________

STILL HERE:

black castle / night wounds - split 7" : two screamy synth bands.
night Wounds' sound is a sort of rough, lo-fi, feedback driven
dance-punk ala Coughs or Black Dice during their "hardcore" era. Black
Castle's new track is more frantic than their previous work featuring
screamed vocals and dark, rushed keyboards and drums. : £2.50

mid 90s or so. melodic and driving. well recommend. £6

collin kramer / eyston - split 7" : collin kramer have a song called
belle epoque?! i can't work out who is on what side here. anyway, the
first song sounds like breakwater or some other mid 90s killerness.

on the flipside is some melodic spazzy indie/emo like cyan / kossabone
red, followed by a hyper emo-thrasher. this 7" could be 4 bands for
all i know, but its apparently just two. this is really good, haven't
sold any yet which is daft : £2.50

great effect. £6

i spoke - autobiography cd : a whole load of songs from these canadian
skramsters : £5

jason collett - idols or exile 12" lp : alt country / americana /
indie-pop effort that the sticker on the front says dylanesque, which
is always a strange one to throw around as how is anyone supposed to
live up to that? anyway, this is really really nice, the guy has a
great lazy voice and the music is sweet as. if you like recent stuff
on subpop you will probably like this a lot : £6
