SNCL RELEASES:

narwhal - s/t 7" : london's screamy emo meisters deliver 3 tunes of
searing emotive hc, this is clearly one for those reared on closure
and portraits of past, when screaming all over your music didn't
instantly mean you sounded like orchid. it all starts here. £3

reds - is:means 12" lp : one of the best emo records of the past few
years if i do say myself. powerful, personal / political music, not
sounding particularly like any past band but sure to appeal to anyone
into mike kirsch, life at these speeds, yaphet kotto and sinaloa. killer.

shermer / the machines will take over split 10" : both bands bring the
beard as they gruff their way through two top notch sides of melodic
hardcore / punk, playing at the rawer end of the hot water music /
small brown bike spectrum. you will grow a beard just listening to
this. aces! £4

NEW JAMS:

Army of Flying Robots - Discography : cd - well well well, the army of
flying roobots have touched down with this 13 track detonation of a
discography, show casing their blistering sound. ROAR! i saw their
first show you know, total witching hour wannabees back then...

Birdsting - s/t : cdep - 5 songs of dead on indie rock that's a notch
above! kicking around in the superchunk / dinosaur jr / beezewax
sandpit. recommended.

Church of the Saturday Saints - Longboarder 7"- kind of rumbleseat
style acousti-punk! neato!

Dead End Boys - Boys in the City 7"7 songs of raucous punk rock from
the streets of Baltimore. punk, fucking punk! get a mohawk, start a
fight, oi oi!

Duchess of Saigon - s/t 7" - shambling garagey pop / rock / arty punk
with some Beach Boys vocals / harmonies thrown in to confuse the issue
even more.

Hot Cops - Taking Hearts & Breaking Names 7" - quality pop punk with
an indie rock (superchunk, dinosaur jr) edge.

Kitty & the Manges - s/t 7" - the manges have been around for a
bajillion years, and here they have guest vocals from kitty kowalski,
and dish up 3 tracks of super pop punk.

Mitsuko - Questions Will Be Asked : cdep - song cdep of poppy /
electronic indie with monotone spoken vocals and singing.

Police & Thieves - s/t 7" - mix up Light the Fuse and Run with some
rocking harDCore and you have Police & Thieves. 4 songs, all kicking arse.

Roil - Mother's Day 10" : rough and ready melodic punk rock, like
jawbreaker and leatherface. very cool! this is from 1993 or 1996 it seems!

Snuggle / Whiskey Sunday - split 7" - Snuggle drive through 2 snotty
melodic punk corkers, that will suit the ears of people who get drunk
to their Grabass Charlestons records. Whiskey Sunday are raw vocalled
(as the cliche goes - 'whiskey soaked') Leatherface style punkers.

Teenage Bottlerocket / Prototipes - split 7" - Teenage Bottle Rocket
hark back to the days when loads of bands wanted to sound like the
Ramones. throw backs! Prototipes are power pop / pop punk and deadly
tuneful.

the Anxieties - The De-Evolution Will Be Televised 7" - pogoing punk
rock, with spazzy vocals. kinda like a more sane darvocets and without
the ufo fixation. includes a motorhead cover.

the Apers / Sonic Dolls - split 7" - holy catchiness batmen! the Apers
are insanely catchy, like the Ergs and all that other catchy pop punk
shit you've been listening to when the some comes out. the Sonic Dolls
power through the other side in a more rocking fashion with buzzing
guitars and fizzing energy.

the Copyrights - Button Smasher 7" - man man, super rocking ergs meets
pinhead gunpowder style pop punk!! get in!

the Four Eyes - Rock & Role Playing : cd - catchy nerdy pop punk
mixing up the dead milkmen, descendents, ergs and bananas. that'd be
some kind of milk shake!

the Varsity Weirdos - Fly Me Up to the Moon 7" - more Ramones-ey style
punk from these canadian guys.

Popsters - the scene 7" - you could probably guess from the name that
these guys are quite poppy. they do melodic punk that i'd compare to
Grabass Charlestons, and they play it dead well. good uns!

Whiskey Sunday / the Saint Catherines - split 7" - woahs, the St.
Catherines kick raging punky tunes out, forging a path between
Leatherface and Dillinger 4. Whiskey Sunday drop some similarily
Leatherface inspired anthems on their side.

Zatopeks - Smile or Move 7" - these london pop punkers carry a good
tune and mix it a modern sound with some of the undertones. solid stuff.

---

PREVIOUS UPDATE:

black heart procession - spell 12" lp : latest opus from this band
that features members of 3 mile pilot. uncannily, they sound like 3
mile pilot slowed down to 16rpm. aces!

Battlecat - s/t 7" - this is mostly folks from Electrosleep
International and Portrait, doing some intensely noisy and fucked up
yet totally rocking no wave type punk. zoink!

Blame Game - Ask Someone 12" - blame game are all on edge here, taking
jazzmo that extra step that nobody ever took. mathy, yet engaging,
intricate and creative. very good.

DC Snipers - Missile Sunset 12" lp - snarling, riffing, raging punk
rock. not sure what to compare this to, its kind of in that wipers /
hot snakes ball park, but actually this has a rawer, more primal feel
to it. searing.

Electric Shadows - Break the Rules 7" - powerpoppin' rock and roll
that has drawn comparisons to the Flamin' Groovies, Soft Boys and the
Only Ones. deadly catchy.

Guiltmaker - Kiss of Death : cdep - grooving, rocking post hardcore /
indie rock from guys who did turns in reversal of man,
combatwoundedveteran and early grace. so this is not what you'd
expect! sounding more like quicksand, texas is the reason, or a
poppier jawbox. what this has is bags of rocking melody for you to
grab your shirt to.

I Would Set Myself On Fire For You - Believes in Patterns : seems like
these guys have been away for a while, but here they are, back with
their cello and epic screamy emo-ness that will no doubt go down well
with those that enjoy circle takes the square. powerful stuff.

Jellyroll Rockheads - wake up, music 12" - utterly essential hardcore
punk rock. 38 tracks! complete discography. shoot a bomb into dance floor!

Kite Flying Society - a discography : cd - 28 tracks of twinkly epic
screamo. it's good that this stuff is now easily available in one
place. bound to appeal to anyone who enjoys saetia, portrait, spirit
of versailles... these guys had the style nailed. quality.

Siege - Discography 12" lp - hardcore for the hardcorest.

Signal to Trust - folklore 12" lp - quality van-pelt styled emo on
this here lp. mmm yeah.

the One AM Radio / the Wind Up Bird - Night Falls split 12" -
absolutely gorgeous split. one am radio dispenses his usual twinkly
indie winteriness, the wind up bird are jeromes dream folks at the
other end of the spectrum - ambient electronica. this was pressed on
cd a few years ago, first time on vinyl.

the plastic constellations - crusades 12" lp : kick ass rocking indie
rock that should appeal to those who are into Meneguar. lots of power
and urgency here.

v/a - skate attack : tape - skate or die! tonnes of bands i have never
heard of such as bail out!, common enemy, media circus, street sharks,
ANS...

zine: America? #14 - latest zine from travis fristoe (moonraker /
reactionary 3).
