celebrate the end of the week by wasting your hard earned cash on
yet more records! here are some i recommend:
20bus #10: £1.25 - this is a zine by a girl called kelli, it has
lots of contributions. small sized, but lots of pages. stories and
associated things to do with various bus journeys by the looks of
it. [4 copies]
gullible #23: £1.50 - one of those story / journal type zines in the
vein of cometbus and burn collector (according to stickfigure). not
read it yet so i can't confirm if it's as good as that :) [4 copies]
three mile pilot cdep (gravity): £4.50 - 5 songs by this incredible
band. [just 1 copy, sorry]
the rapture cdep (subpop) : £4.50 - 6 songs of grooving newnowave
rock type stuff. everything i had heard by the rapture before this i
hated. but i liked this a lot. [2 copies]
quest for quintana roo cdep : £4.50 - 6 songs of screamo emo
hardcore, lots of chaos and screaming and ooh the agony. really
good! (2 copies)
quest for quintana roo 7" : £3 - 3 songs not on the cdep, this is in
a big envelope with a silk screened cover and is on orange vinyl.
which is weird cos i got it ages ago in different packaging and on
black! super nice packaging, probably more emo sounding than their
ep. [3 copies]
amalgamation / jeromes dream 7" : £3 - repressed for all who missed
out originally (including me). jeromes were the very definition of
when the whole emo violence style was at it's best, a long with
orchid and usurp synapse. amalgamation is nutso emo/screamo with a
brass section, like constatine sankathi. super good. [4 copies]
unwound - gravity 7" : £2.50 - 1 sided release on gravity records.
this sounds more like rites of spring or current than unwound. a
long with their mk ultra 7", these are probably the best emo songs
recorded by a band that never really was part of that whole
movement. anyway, i hope you are familiar with unwound. [1 copy,
damn it!]
mahkoto - fighting the urge to start fires 7" : £2.50 - 4 songs of
emo / mathy / rock stuff. sometimes it's all dark like tipping canoe
or navio forge, then gets melodic and catchy like small brown bike.
neat! [4 copies]
scholastic deth : revenge of the nerds 7" : £2.75 - 7 tracks of
thrashin' nerdcore on 625. fast hardcore go! one song on here sounds
like a thrashier assfactor 4. relentless! [3 copies]
pg99 / city of caterpillar split 7" : £3 - speaks for itself. on
level plane. [1 copy, sorry]
placebo 7" : £3 - bryan molko. ha ha! just kidding, it's a comp.
look at the bands: prevail, order of importance, reversal of man,
inkwell. oh my! [1 copy, sorry, it's rare!]
neil perry / kaospilot split 7" : £1 - double emo violence here.
this is cheap because i have 2 copies of my own.
STILL HERE:
yage level plane 7" - £3 : good ole Yage doing their take
on the screamy emo thing, reminds me of the first sunshine lp. solid
band. [found another copy]
senneval - 7" - mi padre el hondero de la pistola £3 - Orchid-esque
screamo / emo violence. 6 songs. splatterfest.
Kurt 12" - £6 : spastic rocknroll from this german band.
if you enjoyed that 10 volt shock 7" that i had in, you will more
than likely enjoy this (they share members). elements of jehu and
punk rock...
Dead Inside 10" - £7.25 : new tracks from one of the better HC bands
in the UK. i liken them to John Henry West and Heroin. cool. i have
some on white vinyl, some on black. please can someone buy one of
these, i have only sold 3 so far! :(
Examination of the... CD £5.50 : heavy, punishing emo
violence / screamo in the style of Neil Perry or anything on Robotic
Empire.
Walkie Talkie Zine Issues 2 & 3 (£2 each) : awesome 'comic' from
Nate Powell of Soophie Nun Squad. issue 2 is abstract, whilst issue
3 is emo as fuck.
thankyou, you've been a wonderful audience.
take care,
andy.x.x.x.
