welcome aboard to the distro treehouse! many news things here that may
or may not be records you want.

this is the last time i *ever* used x-mist (maybe). their hidden
prices are now utterly ridiculous. so i apologise for 3 of the pricier
items on this list, especially rorschach.

i also know there are a few 'new' folks on the list, so just for
clarification, prices include postage and if you want something, just
reply to this e-mail. i take cash, cheque, postal order and now paypal
(though i'd prefer not to - you'll be 'subject' to an additional
charge if you want to pay by paypal)

alex d, iain g and steve c : i have 'sourced' the calvary lp from
elsewhere if you are still interested. it'll be £8.50 i'm afraid
though. let me know if you still want it!

loads more stuff is due over the next couple of weeks, and i'll update
as necessary!

ok, talk soon.

take care,

andy

BRAND NEW FOR THE HIP KIDS

hablan por espalda 12" - interesting mix of hardcore / emo / punk,
brings to mind things like Song of Zarathustra and Twelve Hour Turn
and has a sassy San Diego flavour at times. this band is from uruguay
of all places! great record. (£8.50 4 copies)
_______________________________
rorschach - protestant 12" - it's Rorschach dude, sorry this is so
stupidly ridiculously expensive. a coloured vinyl repress. if you
don't know them, they are one of the most important / influential /
best hardcore bands ever. (£11.00 2 copies)
_______________________________
oliver twist - new tricks LP - quirky German indie rock, danceable but
offbeat. mixes faster Modest Mouse with other stuff. X-Mist says:
"while on their previous releases comparisons to CHISEL and/or ROBOCOP
KRAUS were evident, on this great new record they sound more like a
young, fresh and non-predictable version of bands like LIFTER PULLER
or LES SAVY FAV!" (3 copies, £7.50)
_______________________________
racebannon / soz split 12" - it's racebannon and song of zarathustra
on one record everybody! (8 copies £6.50)
_______________________________
homage to catalonia / andrea lisi - split 7" - nice acoustic split
going on here. andrea lisi sounds like acoustic sarge, homage to
catalonia is sort of bright eyes-ish in a way but i haven't heard much
bright eyes. he sounds kind of wrought anyway. (£2.50, 3 cpies)
_______________________________
amanda woodward - ultramort mcd - very nice, screened card packaging
going on here. musically it is melodic with harsh or talky vocals.
kind of like some of the older french style crossed with braid and a
whole lot of other stranger influences, not enitrely what i was
expecting in places! (3 copies, £5)
_______________________________
hot cross / ltfar split 7" - back in if you missed it last time! (£3,
4 copies)
_______________________________
books lie - empathy 7" - 3 song 7" on carmen diablo, this one still
has the wonderful eric owens on vocals, it has one track from the
album. reminds me of the stupidly under-rated genre that is north
carolina hardcore (cornelius, unherd, rights reserved...) (£3, 2 copies)
_______________________________
1905 - voice cd - political punk rock which is comparable to turn
around norman when they get all harsh (dual male+female singing /
screaming). please read the lyrics. nate powell / soophie nun squad is
a comparison, though not necessarily musically. maybe that might help
a few of you. (£7, 2 copies)
_______________________________
the pine - lead blocks for feet 12" - hey. new lp. more like the hated
than the first lp. still gorgeously emo. (£6.50, 5 copies)
_______________________________
aspects of physics cd - neato electronica / acoustic instrumental
combination. the follow on band from physics. (£5, 1 copy)
_______________________________
city of caterpillar - demo/live 12" - early coc. nice. black vinyl.
(£6.00, 5 copies)
_______________________________
party of helicopters - 5 song 12", new stuff. party of helicopters!
(£5, 1 copy)
_______________________________
evergreen - these last days 7" - final evergreen stuff, post rock.
wow. (£3, 1 copy)

STILL CLUTTERING UP MY ROOM
_______________________________
darius axis 7" - i have no idea who these kids are. listening to the
first song on here - i can't help but think is the evergreen revival
well and truly on??? the first song on the b-side is poppier and more
polished, and the 2nd one is urgent and rocking like rites of
spring??? out of nowhere, this is class! also they use the blotty
royal pain font in their insert. (2 copies, £2.50)
_______________________________
transistor transistor - put down 7" - i have had this in before. it's
the green one with the pills on the front. anyway, t*2 play classy
booty shaking hardcore, occasionally reminding of shotmaker. very much
a level plane type band! though this release is on coptercrash. (3
copies, £3)
_______________________________
Wheels - s/t 7" - a pair of tracks from these Lunduners! Jellyed eels
ahoy as they crash through some melodic hardcore that brings to mind
bands like Dead Inside, Jehu and even Party of Helicopters. smart! (4
copies, £2.25)
_______________________________
ETA - we are the attack 7" - brand new thrash on deranged records, i
think this may also be on enslaved? sounds like how you would expect
it to sound! (£3, 1 copies)
_______________________________
Red Rumsey - solo, droney / partly acoustic 7" from vern rumsey
(unwound) on TMU. 2 tracks, probably limited to 4 copies or something,
oh wait, 500 (£3, 1 copies)
_______________________________
Transistor Legion 7" - heh. i don't even know if i paid for these? i
was talking with the guy on e-mail about getting them back in august,
then it went quiet and they suddenly arrived today! i can't remember
if i ever paid him or not. how weird. anyway this is melodic and kinda
rocky like under a dying sun, with screamy bits. they even do one
really really long song. (5 copies, £1.50)
_______________________________
Funeral Diner / Zann - tour 7" - ok, i grabbed a bunch of copies of
these just in case anyone was unable to pick one up at a show. Funeral
Diner you should be familiar with, they play their screamy emo super
well and fit in the middle of Yaphet Kotto and Envy. very fine. this
is their first recorded stuff with the new singer (ex-Walken), and i
prefer his screams to the old guy. Zann didn't play the show i got to
see, but i wasn't that fussed about that. they play heavy assed
hardcore which is all over the shop. if you like heavy german stuff
you will probably like them too. (1 copies, £3.00)
_______________________________
Funeral Diner - the wicked CDEP - 3 more songs of Funeral Dinerosity!
collect them all to be eligibile for a free Funeral Diner cap and
cheque book! also has the new singer guy on board. (3 copies, £3.50)
_______________________________
limpwrist 12" - raa! total hardcore from these puffs! or something!
this is fantastic and pretty cheap too. this is the version on la vida
es un mus (1 copies, £5.50)
_______________________________
crush my calm - vol 2 7" - melodic emo / hardcore stuff with a touch
of the amber inn's. (1 copies, £3)
_______________________________
the cosmos / lorna split 7" - the cosmos song here is pretty different
to their cd! kind of folksie indie, very downbeat and sorta slow. dual
boy+girl vocals i think! and there is no girl on the cd. really nice.
lorna do an extremely spacey and slow number with a variety of
instruments like trumpet, piano and violin, interestin'! (1 copies, £2.50)
_______________________________
jinx 7" - 2 track single on uber thick vinyl, strange kind of
indie/folksy stuff, the guy who sold it to me compared it to Low but
that is not really accurate, it is more in that Ida type direction
with male and female vocals and a bit darker too. (1 copies, £2.50)
______________________________
semionaside / the host sepia + nimbuscloud - smart electronica split
12", the host sepia features tim from soon the darkness! no screamo
though. the host sepia + nimbuscloud side is dark, the semionaside a
bit more melodic. very cool! (£5 - 4 copies)
_______________________________
tidal / acabah rot split 12 - tidal is crushing german emo / screamo
and acabah rot is more melodic, with keyboards. very catchy! tidal is
way better than their 10" here, this is powerful stuff. (£5.50 - 1 copies)
_______________________________
walkie talkie #4 - new issue of this emo comic! drawn by nate powell
of soophie nun-squad. (2 copies - £2)
