The Sounds of Concord will make their first performance at the historic Chevalier Theatre in Medford when they headline a benefit show for the Chevalier Theatre Organ Society at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 15.
The Organ Society is in the process of restoring a 1922 Mighty Wurlitzer Theatre Pipe Organ that will be installed at Chevalier, which was completed in 1940 as part of the Medford High School complex.
The theatre was dedicated to former Medford resident Godfrey Chevalier, a World War I naval hero and aviation pioneer. The 2,000-seat hall is known for its elliptical interior with Art Deco accents and exceptional
acoustics.
In addition to the Sounds of Concord performance, the Oct. 15 event will include the silent movie comedy "Coney Island," starring Buster Keaton and Fatty Arbuckle, with live accompaniment by Malden organist Robert Legon.
Tickets are $10 and will be available at the door or by calling 781-874-0920.
The theater in handicap accessible.
