Hi everyone,

"A Blast From the Past", this year’s annual show, was our best ever. We had Grandma’s Boys as our featured quartet, our director Karen Rourke’s quartet Boston Accent, and we were joined by chorus alumni for "Shenandoah" and "America The Beautiful". And more.

We have produced a live CD of the chorus’ show songs – it came out great!  And included with it are color pictures showing the chorus dressed as Roman senators, Custer’s cavalrymen, Sigmund Freud’s students, Casanova’s comrades and cavemen ("Singing is nothing more than sustained grunting").

For those of you who attended the show, this is a great way to remember a fun time. For those who who didn’t, the CD provides some great music.  A couple of pictures from the show are attached to this email.

I also hope the CD will encourage you to join us at next year’s show on Saturday, April 16th. Our special guest quartet will be Wheelhouse, 2003 Mid-Atlantic District Champions and International Finalists.  Remember to mark the date on your calendar.
(Check out Wheelhouse at http://www.harmonize.com/Wheelhouse/).

We are asking $12 for the CD with all proceeds going to the Sounds of Concord. We are in the process of expanding our Youth In Harmony and community services programs and greatly appreciate your support.

To buy a CD, please make out checks to: Sounds of Concord

Hi everyone,

Thanks for your continued interest in the Sounds of Concord.  We have
a couple of announcements.

First, our international convention is this week, in Montreal, from Wednesday
July 2 through Saturday July 6.  This is the "World Series" of men's barbershop
singing.  In case you're interested, the contests and other events will be
broadcast over the web (audio and video).  Here's your chance to catch some
of the action from the comforts of your desktop.  The Sounds aren't competing
(we're good but we're not THAT good, yet), but many of the quartets we've
featured on our shows the past few years will be gunning for the coveted
International Quartet Championship (won by SOC show quartet Four Voices
last year).  So tune in and watch Power Play (SOC show 2000), Gotcha!
(SOC show 2001) and Metropolis (SOC show 2003) duke it out with 40
other quartets from around the world.  New England will be represented by
Road Show and Northeast Connection, and the Nashua Granite Statesmen
chorus.

There's a link on our homepage (www.soundsofconcord.org) to the webcast.

Also, our annual show for 2004 is set for Saturday April 3.  And, we have a
tentative agreement to bring one of the top show quartets ever to the stage:
International Champion Grandma's Boys, who are coming out of retirement
to do a select number of shows next year.  This quartet has been featured
on several national variety shows, and pioneered advances in arrangements
and showmanship that are still felt today.  Its members went on to win
two more gold medals and one bronze medal in other quartets.  This promises
to be a unique opportunity to see what all the fuss was about, so mark
your calendars.  We'll have more specific information on exact times and
location later on, so stay tuned.

Once again, thanks for your interest in the Sounds of Concord!

This past weekend the Sounds of Concord once again was named Division Chorus Champion, at the annual Patriot Division Contest in Peabody, Massachusetts.

The Patriot Division of the Northeastern District of SPEBSQSA, Inc. consists of over 10 choruses in Eastern Massachusetts.  This is the second consecutive year the chorus has won this honor.

In addition, two chorus quartets also won honors.  Concord Express was named Novice Quartet Champion and Z Street was named Most Improved Quartet.  A new quartet, Applause!, also competed for the right to represent the Northeastern District in the International Quartet Contest in Montreal and placed third, right behind the two International qualifiers.
