Firstly in reply to your message that you have now deleted from the
board saying...
Russ,
I've never used this group to send emails. If someone sends
thousands
of emails and gets some bounced that sounds alright to me. It would
be
worse if the 1233 members receive unwanted emails.
I would like to point out that it was the fact I could read all
the messages that were a problem and it would also be easier to
maintain a group with less members would be easier (although you get
higher in the search with more members)
Also not the point that you do not send e-mail using the group was
not what I thought was a problem. That is down to you. The other
Karoake group I am in gets lots of messages. It is down to the
users and the mods. I just think it unwise people's addresses being
so open. I know that when I send this message all the recipiants
can get my e-mail address from it but I use an individual e-mail
addres for this group and every group (then I can tell where spam
has originated from when it comes in - hence why I am passing on my
advice that someone on the group is using e-mails for other
reasons) I know that my address will go out with this e-mail. I
chose to do that. I have not chosen to have my address publicly
listed. If the member list stays up there then I will be leaving
and I am sure you will get others leaving if they feel their e-mail
address is being publicly listed for all to see.
On to your second message of which you sent me about the bouncing e-
mail addresses. Which is below and which you will find my answer
below that.

I would just like to confirm that it is the current bouncing e-mails
in your group. If you would like to confirm that then all you have
to do (and any other person in the group) is click on members on the
left hand side of the group and click on bouncing and you will see
that there is currently at writing this 1233 bouncing members.
Yes yahoo does send re activation messages out and then stops it is
still classed as a bouncing e-mail address by yahoo and once the
person re activates it for the group then messages start up again.
I am just guessing that yahoo does that to stop the major amount of
traffic that passes on the net.
The point I was mainly trying to make is that "I could find this out
along with other peoples details"
To rectify this should you wish to take my advice is to go to
MANAGEMENT
WEB TOOLS
EDIT WEB TOOLS
Change the member list to moderators only
Then no one can view all the addresses exept mods and owners.
If you are not going to be doing this I will be leaving as i do not
want my e-mail address on groups that will display it to others.
This message is not in any way being awkward or nasty but a bit of
what I call good advice. I did not know how to hide member lists
until I saw a group that did and found out. Now I feel I am pretty
good with the yahoo groups.
Thanks for taking time to read.
I hope my e-mail has been of help to you as it took a long time to
type out and show you how to do it. I could have just left and let
you all get on with it but if you are misinformed on how the yahoo
groups work then 3000+ people do not get their e-mail address listed.
