Hello Everyone,
Doris Day has had a great career as a singer and actress. With
roles in feature films such as "Pillow Talk", "Calamity Jane",
and "Please Don't Eat the Daisies" she established herself as one of
America's most prolific actresses during the 50's and 60's. In 1956,
Doris starred in the remake of ALfred Hitchcock's "The Man Who Knew
Too Much" with Jimmy Stewart and also sang this song which was a #2
hit for her: "Que Sera Sera". Thanks to all of you for your

Good Morning,
The man who made white shoes a fashion statement, Pat Boone, had
a lot of hits in the mid to late 50's covering black artists music
because radio station were afraid to play what they felt was 'race'
music. In 1962 Pat, along with the help of Mel Blanc, created a #2
hit with this song "Speedy Gonzales". Thank you for your support and

Hello Everyone,
Robert Pickett was obsessed with horror movies as a kid. So much
so that when he was performing with the Cordials, he would often
imitate Boris Karloff between songs. When one of his bandmates
suggested they use that to their advantage and capitalize on the
novelty song craze of the early sixties, the "MONSTER MASH" was
born. It immediately became a #1 hit in October of 1962 and is one
of only 3 songs in history to break the top 100 charts on 3 separate
occasions. Thanks for all of your support and have a great week, Eric

Hello,
Starting with his 1993 hit "Holdin' Heaven", Tracy Byrd
established himself as a new force in country music. When the
crossover song "Keeper Of The Stars" was released in 1995 it
instantly became another hit as well as one of the most played
wedding songs there is. Co-written by Dickey Lee (Patches,) the song
reached #1 on the country charts in the spring of 1995. Thanks for
your support and have a great week, Eric

Hi Everybody,
Bobby Lewis grew up in an orphanage before being adopted by a Detroit
family at the age of 12. He reportedly worked with jazz greats Duke
Ellington and Wes Montgomery during his youth and befriended a young
Jackie Wilson in the mid-50s. Lewis signed to Beltone and
recorded "Tossin' And Turnin'". The record stayed at #1 for seven
weeks in 1961, becoming one of the year's biggest-sellers. Lewis
followed it up with "One Track Mind" another Top 10 hit, but
subsequent efforts were commercially disappointing. Thanks for all
your support and enjoy your week, Eric

Hello Everyone,
Using a washboard, a tea-chest bass and a cheap Spanish guitar
Lonnie Donegan gave the impression that anyone could do it, and had a
lot of fun. This music was referred to as Skiffle music. Some of
the artists attributing their influences to Lonnie include The
Beatles, Brian May of Queen, Elton John, Ron Wood, and Albert Lee.
He had 30 top 30 hits in the UK from 1959 to 1962 but none more
popular in the US than this 1961 hit "Does Your Chewing Gum Lose It's
Flavor (On The Bedpost Overnight). Thanks for your support and have

Good Morning,
Today's song was recorded by so many artists that I found it hard
to actually choose a version. Originally done by Fred Astaire, "The
Way You Look Tonight" has been recorded by many artists such as Frank
Sinatra, Guy Lombardo, Harry Connick Jr., Mel Torme and The Letterman
just to name a few. This version by Tony Bennett is one of my
favorites though. Enjoy and have a good day, Eric

Snoopy's Christmas they were destined to be another one hit wonder.
In late 1966 they scored big with the #2 hit "Snoopy Vs. The Red

close as #15 with "The Return of The Red Baron the following year.

Hello,
Roberta Flack has been creating hits for more than 30 years.
Surprisingly her first 2 albums were a flop until Clint Eastwood
featured "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face" in the movie "Play
Misty For Me". After that her career took off (and so did that song reaching
#1). During the 70s she had many hits with her Duet partner and college friend
Donny Hathaway. One of those songs were "The Closer I Get To You" which peaked
at #2 in 1978. Thanks for all your support and have a good week, Eric

Hello Everyone,
In New York of the 1950s, it was hardly unusual for guys to get
together in high school to sing on the corner or in hallways and
subway tunnels. Such was the case of the Tokens who recorded an
African style folk song with the original title of "Mbube" also known
as "Wimoweh" which RCA loved. English lyrics were added, and the new
version was recorded. "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" was a smash #1 hit
for the group. One thing of interest about the group. After finally
becoming successful as artists they became producers as well. The
group produced the Chiffon's "He's So Fine" making history as the
first group to record and produce #1 hits. Enjoy your holiday
weekend and thank you for all your support, Eric

Good Evening,
For over 30 years the Moody Blues have been creating music for
one generation after another. In 1966 with the Album "Days of Future
Passed" which is one of the biggest selling albums of all time, they
left their mark on music history. They were the first band to
combine a symphony orchestra with their music and also to record in
stereo, which set the standard for many bands to follow. This record
generated the mega-hit "Nights In White Satin" which peaked at #2 and
was on the charts for 3 years. Thanks to all of you for your support

country dominating all of the top 40 charts. A young Disc Jockey

peaked at #1 in the fall of 1976. Thanks so much for all your

There is no song that is thought to be more of an influence in Rock

Haley and His Comets. That's not to say it was the first but it
certainly was the most famous being featured in the movie "The
Blackboard Jungle". It has sold more than 25 million copies and has
been remade by an estimated 10,000 artists worldwide. It hit the
charts almost a year after being released and was a #1 hit for 8
weeks in 1955 as well as a top 10 song for the whole decade of the
50's. He also rerecorded it for the opening credits for the TV
show "Happy Days" although that version was never officially
released. Enjoy and have a great week, Eric

Good Morning,
Declan McManus otherwise known as Elvis Costello had a string of
hits in the late 70's and early 80's playing scathing pop/punk songs
and solidifying his statue as a songwriter. He continued this
success writing songs writing songs for artists such as Linda
Rondstat and also Paul McCartney. It was his late 90's
collaborations with Burt Bacharach that got his song writing
abilities noticed with the remake of Charles Aznavour's "She" which
was featured in the film Notting Hill and topped the charts at #16.

Good Evening Everyone,
I'd like to welcome all the new members that joined me this week
and hope you're finding your experience here fun. My newest page is
by a guy that recorded a couple of throw away hits for Gary US Bonds
in the early 60's. Lucky for him one of the songs was "If You Wanna
Be Happy" which was a smash hit for Jimmy Soul in 1963. Thanks for
all your support and have a good night, Eric

Hello Everyone,
I've added another song to the novelty section of the site. Betty
Johnson started her career singing with her family "The Johnson
Family Singers" in the late 1930's and into the 40's before embarking
on her own in the mid 50's to perform more mainstream music. In 1958
she scored a big hit with "The Little Blue Man" which stayed on the
charts for 4 months that year. Thanks to all of you for your support
and have a great weekend, Eric

Hello,
George Strait is one of the most popular country music artists in
the modern era having 37 #1 hits in his career and winning just about
every major music award there is including CMA artist of the year and
several Grammys. He has never been off the Billboard Music charts
since his first release in 1981. This song was a big cross-over hit
for him and is now one of the most popular romantic songs of the the
last decade: "I Cross My Heart". Thanks for all your support and
have a great week, Eric

Hello Everyone,
I hope you all are enjoying your Holiday Weekend. With the
Baseball All Star game happening this week I thought it was only
fitting that I send this classic comedy routine By Abbott and
Costello out "Who's On First". It's been a favorite of mine as long
as I can remember and hope you enjoy it too. It is the first of many
novelty and fun songs that I plan to add to the site over the coming
days and weeks. Thanks for your support and enjoy, Eric

Hello Everyone,
Well I thought about waiting until after the holiday to send my
first posting but it was only fitting I made a tribute to Rosemary
Clooney who passed away this past Saturday night. She started her
career in radio 57 years ago and starred in "White Christmas" with
Bing Crosby. She received a well deserved lifetime achievement
Grammy this year for her work. This is one of her most popular
songs: "Mambo Italiano". Have a good holiday and thanks for your
support, Eric
