Hi there,
I am SAM, an Iraqi refugee living in Lebanon at the moment; I have spent the
last 10 years of my life as a refugee registered with the UNHCR in Beirut. The
last 4 years, I have spent as an activist for peace and human rights (especially
refugees and asylum seekers) on the Internet; I'm also books author and ebooks
publisher. I have launched many campaigns to improve our situation as refugees
in Lebanon and hopefully bring more understanding to our problems worldwide. I
helped make many changes and improvements at the UNHCR office in Beirut; I used
the Internet as the field for my activities (you can read more about that in my
free ebook 'MY CAMPAIGNS'). All my ebooks are free and could be download from my
sites.
This is my newest campaign, it's about the illegal and humiliating actions of
the UNHCR, who using photos of refugees as banners and human-buttons to collect
money. This is an abuse of the dignity and humanity of the refugees and must
stop immediately and a clear public apology present by The United Nations High
Commissioner for Refugees. My friends, I am talking about the pictures you can
see here:
http://home.graffiti.net/unews/human-buttons.htm
Where you can read the rest of this message as web page.
Also you can read my new campaign 'Urgent, we need smile' here:

For more info about UNHCR and life of refugees you can read my free ebooks. I
invite you as fellow humans and members of the world community to support my
campaign by reading my article on my site and see the human-buttons. The
campaign is to support and improve the UNHCR http://www.unhcr.ch especially
after the last scandals in the UN and UNHCR, just for example:
The refugees allege that UNHCR staff is selling most of the food items they are
supposed to be supplied.
"They aren't supplying sufficient food to us because they sell most of the food
items," they allege: http://allafrica.com/stories/200503140214.html
Here is another example: Burmese Refugees Withdraw Protest Against UNHCR
http://www.mizzima.com/archives/news-in-2005/news-in-april/12-April05-22.htm
"We make demonstration and fast because the UNHCR office in Cairo did nothing
for our problem..." http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/africa/4440730.stm
Together we will build better world.

how good is that? Just phoned these fellows (801) 697-0461 and they got me fully
accredited at an overseas uni in less than a month! Very happy right now.
Finally left my old boss and got a new one, me! Took me about a week to get

house. Have to say, it sure beats the bull that comes with working for the man.
If any of you guys are interested in doing the same give these people a
ring (888) 701-3877 and they will help u get started. Certainly helped me :)
Well I just got married! I can't believe it, just last year I was beginning to
think i would never meet anyone. I'm 25 already and I thought it was all over.
After some recommendations from a buddy I joined up here:
http://www.unbelievablejoy.info/clnv and after 4 weeks I was already meeting up
with a beauty. Well, 14 months later and where still together and married =)
Hey guys! Im getting married finally, cant believe this came true (thought it
would never happen). Thanks to this thing http://www.greattimesahead.info/uprj
managed to meet a beautiful girl, who also has a bit of freak in her (just how i
like it ;)). Wish me luck, I wish you all the same!
I know some buddys who have met a few nice honey's off of this kind of thing
(here is the place they used: http://www.gethereandstart.info/okqe , but what do
ya think? I think it is mad cool from what I saw at my buddy’s house, and iam
thinking of signing up later today. Basically it's a regular personalssite, but
with an instant message and Webcams system built in. Basically you join their
chat-room on their site it gives you a link to those people online in the
chat-room, their location, their picture, etc and at one click you can start
chatting to them over Webcam (even if you don't have one). Pretty nifty stuff I
think!

Just thought I should pass on my knowledge to all you guys (and gals) on here. I
know just like heaps of other men I am pretty shy when it comes to going up to
someone. I've tried a few different places (clubs, bars, etc) but never seem to
have too much luck. Anyway, a few weeks ago I joined up to
http://www.talkonthenet.info/aozb and I have to say I am already getting
excited. I was beginning to think I'd end up being alone for ever, but already
been talking to a few interested ladies on there. Anyway, if you're like me it
comes highly recommended!
Well even if you're not looking for love, and just a bit of fun thought I'd
give you all a tip. So you can stay away from all the bullcrap fake profiles
places this is what I've been using http://www.seekinsumone.info/rjhwn . No
joke, I've messaged about 5 women nearby to me and already 3 have responded, and
I am already organising to meet up with one. Not bad for a guy who hasn't had a
date in a while, lol!
Hi list, So what do we talk about here?

Hi there im a new member to the webring and this group, i just
thought i would pop my head in and say hi.
Ive just checked out your thread "How to write a song", great thread
and i enjoyed your methods.
Myself, well im not much of a musician myself so i work in
collaboration with other people as a lyricist (my friends call me
their "word-dude" coz it sounds cooler than poet or whatever :)
However that said, most of the time i just write a lyric, i'll hear
someone say something and then think "cool i can use that in a song",
by the time ive done writing down what they have said ive usually got
a whole songs worth of lyrics.....dont ask me where it comes from :)
more often than not i will have a melody in my head which will hang
around for hours. In the past ive not been able to record these
melodies (or vocal lines...whatever you call them, im not a
technically minded person at all......technically im thick as pigshit
hah), so ive been able to sit down with friends who can play
instruments....usually its either a piano or a guitar that we will
work out the basic chords and then work on things from there.
One thing i dont tend to do though is to alter the original lyric, i
sort of treat it as a moment in my life, and being someone who thinks
we should look forward and not dwell on our past too much...i look
forward and move onto the next thing.
I read a comment there that said "we cant write all hits", well to me
i probably wouldnt want to write too many, basically because once you
get into a situation where you're a hitmaker or whatever your work
becomes par for the course, ive never been one for slotting right
into any particular niche or anything. The writers i admire are
people who have something specific to say, couple that with some
musical genius and the odd splash of humour and you have something
inspiring. It would be nice to have one grammy but i wouldnt wanna go
overboard (grin)
Ok well ive probably set the record for the longest intro on this
list thus far, so i'll buzz off and watch some tv :)
cheers

I do a lot of driving and I also find that I get
a lot of lyric and melody ideas while I'm cruising
down the road. I need to get on of those small hand
held digital recorders so I can sing it when it
happens:) I do love to jam on my instruments though and a
lot of times just developing riffs or chord
progressions can lead to a good song. I am also blessed with a
lot of digital recording and midi gear so I can play
around with my ideas, add a bass line or counterpoint,
etc. I think there are a lot of different roads that
lead to the same place.
Usually a lyric or phrase will be be the seed and
it will suggest a melody. Then I fit chords to that.
But I find it's also important to jam or sit down
with your instrument and try things so you don't
always fall back on the same progressions or versions of
chords. Of course the mysterious part is where that seed
comes from. <br><br>There was an interesting interview
with singer/songwriter David Mead on a local radio
station where he said he had a hard time getting used to
writing once he could do it full time. When he had a day
job, songs would come to him while he was working or
getting to work or whatever. He says he now has to go to
the museum or make up things to do to distract
himself. <br><br><br>--Doug
I don't have any set method for writing songs.
Sometimes I will get the lyrics first and then try to fit
appropriate music to them. Sometimes I will plunk out a riff
or chord progression on the guitar or piano and
develop the music ideas first. The best ones seem to come
all at once lyrics and melody. Sometimes I will dream
a song and then wake up and try to write it down
before it vanishes . . . I think all methods work as
long as the end result is a good song. No one writes
100 percent hits though. I've written a few over the
years that are a little painful to listen to now:)
Hello, fellow songwriters... Hi,
Leon!<br><br>Let's start the club with something that might be
interesting to all of us... How to write a song. I know it's
an intriguing process and it's much too complicated
to investigate in full depth. So, my thought would
be to discuss whether to start with the lyrics or
the tune... We might go into more details about the
minor7 or the add9/13 later. My thoughts are to start
with lyrics first... ok, I keep some cord changes on
notepad or whatever, but songs mostly emerged from
lyrics.<br><br>Long post, but maybe this gets the Cafe
going!<br><br>Take care<br>Bernd
