Duran Duran Promo International announces O5 on Total Request Live
2002.
Previous attempts to get the band on TRL didn't work, but we've
learned
allot from those attempts. We won the TOTP poll, and that wasn't easy
either :) We CAN succeed this time, here's why:

Voting for a video one day didn't work. Too many people forgot about
it,
couldn't understand the time zones, or weren't available on the date.
It
was dismissed as a "publicity stunt" by the fans (which it was, but,
still....) By voting every day for 2 weeks, everyone will have a
chance to
vote, and many fans will be able to remember that much easier than
trying
to remember a particular date. Also, it won't be seen as a one time
"stunt", but as a steady stream of requests.

Another advantage is that with the new line up, album and tour, many
fans
have become re-interested in the band, and many new fans have
emerged. With
the media and press covering it, allot of people came back into the
band
scene. Also, with the new lineup, album, tour, and good press and
media
about it, MTV and VH1 are much more open to playing the band. So,
we're in
a much better position now to request the band.

With DDPI organizing and promoting, we're able to reach a broader
base of
fans, not to mention that we've got access to posting these sort of
projects on major music boards.

We need to all vote for the same video. If 500 people vote for 20
different
videos, it does nothing at all, because each video will only get 20 -
30
votes. But if 500 people vote for ONE video, it will get 500 votes.

Next, we need to vote for a video that is MTV-friendly. EB & SENM
didn't
get much airplay to begin with. We've decided on White Lines, because
it
was played in heavy rotation, and it features Melle Mel, Grandmaster
Flash,
and the Furious Five, which broadens it's appeal. They're fans would
vote
for it too, as would hip-hop fans. We can also contact they're fan
clubs
and mailing lists and get them to help with this now, which doubles
our
efforts.

So - as you can see, this has a strong chance of working :)

Voting Information:

Video to vote for: Duran Duran - White Lines

Where to vote: Go to http://www.mtv.com/onair/trl/votevideo.jhtml and
scroll down to "Other". Click the "Other" box, fill in all of the
information asked for (or your vote may not be counted), include a
brief
comment about the video, and click Cast Vote. Wait for confirmation
that
your vote was recorded. PLEASE vote only ONCE per computer, per day -
multiple voting caused DD videos to be disqualified during one
attempt.
Also, please keep the comments brief and neutral.

When to vote: Every day from 1 May through 14 May. Setting the above
link
as your home page for 2 weeks will be a good way to remember, or you
could
just save it in your favourites and place a post it note on your
monitor
reminding you. :) If we all pull together as fans and make the effort
to
vote once per day each day for these two weeks we have a good way of
getting them played, and what better way to show the band our support
than
to get them on TRL?! :)
