Hey S::L...
The Live Earth concerts are winding down as I'm writing this, and
and just in case someone out there isn't aware, the individual concerts are
currently being streamed in their entirety at http://liveearth.msn.com/
http://liveearth.msn.com/concerts/japan
may be of added interest to this group. From what I hear, the concert will
be re-streamed for approx. the next week. Right now Yellow Magic Orchestra
is being repeated. It seems as if the Japan stream is approx. eight hours
long. Unfortunately you can't pick and choose whom you want to see. Note
if you see the hologram Al Gore speech, that's the beginning of the show.
Gore is quite effective singing Tighten Up with YMO. Okay, that didn't
happen.
YMO is one of the highlights, of course. There's also a great (imho) set by
UA singing 2-3 songs with a guitarist as her accompiament. Bonnie Pink
follows UA, and so on. That's the Kyoto concert. The larger concert is also
shown, with a blend of Japanese and overseas acts, including a very long set
by Linkin Park (interrupted for 10 minutes when a barricade broke down).
Koda Kumi follows LP (may be a guilty pleasure thing, but I enjoyed her set
except for that loooong speech she gave in the middle, which I don't think I
would have liked any better even if I had been able to understand it).
That concert ends with Rihanna (guilty pleasure pt. 2?).
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Live_Earth_concert%2C_Tokyo
has the complete list including songs performed for some of the acts,
although at the moment the site mixes artists from both venues into
the one listing.
Although I don't really have time to watch them all, it seems as if all
the other concerts are streamed too. Not to mention all of the t.v.
coverage worldwide today. Alicia Keys, John Legend, Madonna, the Police,
and many others.
Best,
John
