Folks,
I've just come across a digital compilation of tracks by the
great Soul Ambassadors, available for download from the
usual sources. See:
http://www.rhapsody.com/soul-ambassadors/soul-masters or
http://amzn.com/B000S58AN6.
Nine tracks, seven of which are drawn from the four Sound
Stage 7 singles credited variously to The Ambassadors, The
Soul Ambassadors, and Bobby Ledford & the Soul Ambassadors.
(Why in the world would the compilers omit one side of one
single, "There's Something On My Baby's Mind", probably
their best track? [Fortunately, it's one of the two that
are already on CD...])
But two of the tracks, "I Don't Have No One To Give My Love
To" and "You Got Me Runnin' Got Me Hidin'" don't seem to
have been originally released on SS7. Does anyone know what
the original source of these two sides is?
They do seem to have appeared on a Vivid Sound LP
compilation of SS7 sides called "Soul Bag vol. 1".
Are these two tracks SS7 outtakes or did they originally
appear on another label?
By the way, if you don't know The Soul Ambassadors, several
of these sides are really first rate. Unfortunately, the
mastering on this release is indifferent at best and, of
course, there are no notes and no images. Wouldn't it be
great to see a proper CD release of this material?
Best regards to all,
Eric
