RocBox. I got it last week and took it out to a couple gigs this weekend, and
she's a beauty. Basically, it's an RB3c with the AMA installed, and a 250watt
power amplifier also installed, the whole thing is two pieces, a top rotor box
with a single Selenium driver, and a lower rotor box (AMA and amp installed)
with 15" and full rotor baffle. Totally manageable by myself, it fit into my
Toyota Highlander along with my Yorkville 300k combo amp, an 8space rack full of
midi goodness, my XK1 and Roland A90, as well as my pedalboard case, Invisible
stand and Breedlove 12string guitar. One instrument cable in, a connector
cable, and AC and you're on go. Sounded killer!
> You guys have heard about the RB3c before. But this is really different; the
main improvement over the RB3c, in addition to being self-contained, is that it
has Speakeasy's new crossover design. And that crossover is ingredient that
really puts an already winning rig over the top. After some serious tweaking
and examination by Speakeasy, and test piloting and critiquing by yours truly,
Steve has put together a crossover that really maximizes the power of the
leslie, whether it's a Leslie, a Hammond Suzuki leslie, or a Speakeasy, whether
you're using Hammond console to leslie, a clone to preamp to tube or solid state
leslie, or a hybrid approach like the AMA/solid state amp. I don't know what
the crossover points are, but it does feed more a little more juice to the low
end so you can hit the upper rotor with more power. It still retains that
classic leslie sound, but now you can turn it up louder to compete with rock
guitarists with an
> Angus Young complex. The lower rotor is actually a little richer and fuller,
yet the highs are still working their magic. Smooth tones sound like they
should, and the rock settings come barreling at you without being shrill or
clipped.

greatly improve the tone and POWER of your leslie, regardless of your rig. And
what's nice about it, is I'm getting better performance out of the AMA/250watt
amp than I was getting from my external 500watt amplifier. Definitely a tweak
to consider! If you're in Chicago anytime, let me know, you can hear it and/or
play this killer leslie for yourself! And if you're just looking to improve
the performance of your current leslie, call Steve for this cost-effective but
brilliant tweak.

Hi guys, I'm the proud owner of RB3C #2 (I was Speakeasy's west coast test
pilot) I've been enjoying this for some time now, my unit has the 250watt amp
installed and the pre/AMA in a SKB on top which I prefer 'cos I like to use it
in front of my Motion Sound KBR-3D on smaller gigs.
Tony's above post earlier in the year prompted me to call Steve and see what I
needed to do to upgrade....I removed my crossover and sent it back to him, and
for a very reasonable cost he sent me the Hayes Crossover which I installed (all
very easy to do). I now have a Rocbox. OMG Tony you were not kidding....this
thing is a f*****g monster!!!
I played with The Blues Gypsys on sunday at The Sagebrush Cantina in Calabasas
which has a huge outdor patio. This is a loud band anyway but we were cranking
it. I had the pre set on about 7, the power amp on 6, and the lineout at about
4. My stage volume was HUGE at those settings, I had to have the lead guitar put
in my moniter, and he was using 2 amps!
The whole sound is balanced, you can clearly hear everything the lower rotor
does without it being at all overpowering. The whole thing has been raised to
another level, and the rest of the band agrees with me. The sound engineer was
really interested too, and you know how hard it is to excite most of those guys!
I'm really impressed, I know there's been a lot af posts about this crossover
lately and if it does for a leslie what it did for my Roadbox then maybe it is
the holy grail? let's hear from more people who installed it.
If anyone in LA wants to check it out contact me and, by the way, I am not at
all connected with SVM, i'm just a real happy customer!
